Husband just dx with a cuboid fx on Friday

This is all knew to me - I am a nurse and I am dealing with my husband who has a stress fx....he is in a stablizer boot on crutches and thinks he ought to be allowed to do light duty at the office - - I give up - - I have bothered the Orthopedic Group 3 times already today - - I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and how did you help the process along during healing - - I know there are doctors who monitor these sites during their free time - - is it ok for him to apply the least little pressure to that boot or swing it thru like a cast on his foot - - I can't get him to listen to me - but then what am I - just the wife who happens to be a nurse........

I have a stress fracture on a lumbar disc, no advice was given to me.  Thanks for posting, this is helpful.  All the best to your husband.

He should be trying to rest this fracture as much as possible.  He can put weight on it, but it shouldnt be very much and not for long periods of time.  The best thing to do is rest it, elevate it and try to stay out of pain.  The stress fractures occur when so much stress is put on the muscles and they can no longer handle it so it ends up fracturing the bone.  He needs to give those muscles time to heal as well.  If he has a desk job and his company is accomodating, maybe he can go back to work with minimal walking and keeping his foot elevated when he is at his desk.
