I'm still here - 9 years in December, with recurrences, chemos, radiation two surgeries (will be three if I get my way) Some of it helps for a while some doesn't. I still work full time, ride my horse, do most things I want. I'm a bit sore in parts right now with something obviously pressing on something useful but another month of chemo might fix that. I'm planning on being a 10 year survivor. My mother is a six year survivor without any recurrence. We were both stage 3C.
I volunteer for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and in our chapter, we have a few long term surivivors.
We had a stage IV that was stable for 9 years before she lost her battle. We have one stage 3C that is a 22 year survivor, another that is a 15 year survivor.
Who knows why some beat the odds and others don't....but it is possible.
Best of luck to you and your mother.
Pam
I have a friend that is still living, traveling (she's in Europe right now) and very active even though she was diagnosed with OvCa stage 3 8 years ago. She had a remission and now it's back but even with the treatments, she's still going and enjoying every moment she can. Will she live to be a 100? Probably not. But she isn't giving up either.
