Confused

1 year ovarian cancer free and cat test showed swollen lymph nodes in pelvic area, pet scan came back that it was not cancer it said repritoneal fat and my blood work came back slightly elevated.  How much do you trust pet scans?  and do you think pet scans are better than cat scans?  They want me to get another pet scan.  Confused I thought these tests were better than that.  Could this be nothing?

Hello...I generally have both PET and CT at the same time, as my Oncol. thinks by having both, it gives a good 'over-all' picture of the situation, although my Stage 4 cancer was first dx by Ct scan. I guess it's an individual thing for the Oncol. I had a swollen lymph node in the left pelvic area, which was found to be cancerous after I had a fine needle biopsy. The chemo seems to be working on it well, as I can hardly detect it now. I hope everything works out well for you.  hugs...Helen...

It's to my understanding that PET scans are more reliable than CT scans. Best of luck, Deandra
