2 weeks til the Chicago OVCA Event

TIme to stir up some good news around here..
It is only two weeks now til the OVCA Event here in Chicago. We have a wonderful weekend planned
meet and greet in the bar on Friday night at 9:30pm (after the last girl arrives in) with a special presentation.
our awareness ceremony at 3pm on Saturday in the hotel Ballroom no less,  and the pool party in the evening!
downtown tour, and shopping on Sunday afternoon, and dinner at the restaurant at 7pm.

Gail and myself are working hard to make sure Chris's dream of a bigger and better event each year comes true, We are trying to get the word out anywhere we can, and hope all of you will do the same (the ballroom holds 350 people, so we have lots of seats to fill.) So hit your facebook, twitter, myspace, remember the date Saturday Oct 24th.

Hoping to have a ballroom of teal from differant organizations around the chicagoland area. The info is out on the web now, as well as contacting the local media. We are emailing, and hand delivering fliers about the tree planting ceremony (had to drop the balloon release..protesters). tealtoes. org and ovca. net both have it out on the internet, along with  some of the facebook accounts. Will be dropping off fliers at my local hospitals this week as well.
   So far, I do not think Chris will be able to attend, she is still in the hospital as far as I know, but we are working hard to make her proud of the event, and Gail will be posting the event to youtube, for althoughs who are not well enough to attend the event in person.

Thanks Tc, I will google the ballroom and find the name of the hotel too.  I am trying to work something out on this end and wanted as much info as possible; however, I don't need anymore details than what you said, thanks!!  and Lisa, not a problem. I am just an old fart, might have to to take a nap either on the plane or when I get in. I have a feeling that adrenaline and excitement of meeting everyone will keep me going. I so am wishing Chris makes it. So hopeful!

Sorry Colleen,  I think I'm the last one coming in.  My Mom always did call me her late bloomer.  I'm the last for everything.  I hope Chris is well enough for this.  I think we would all be disappointed if she was unable to attend.  Speaking of attending...do we know how many as of right now are attending?  The five rooms that were held have been booked for months, so I don't know how many others are coming.  I think it's so cool that others, who unfortunately can't attend, will be joining us in our spiritual balloon release in their own towns.  Butterfly, can you send me the names of the peoples names you are reading?  Maybe I  can work my graphics majic and put it in my photo section, for others to get and print it if they want.  I can't wait.  Lisa

OMG! I just had a thought.  Is there any way we could get a local new station to come out and maybe it can be on the news?  Who knows maybe the IP can pick it up after that, if we can talk to someone.

just a suggestion , since you will be in chi town, how about putting notes into bottles and releasing them into the lake?  Might be fun to see where and if any answers come from them. Plastic bottles float and can be made water tight.  My son in AZ went and got 50  teal balloons, and a tank to blow them up with, the girls all made the strings to tie them too,  we will be releasing them on the desert between the Grand Canyon and Williams, I went to the memory site and got names and already have the papers ready to put in the balloons, my 5 little grand daughters are very excited about doing this, the oldest one, age 11,  told her class what they were going to do and why, and  she told me the teacher talked about cancer that day,  then she came home and made a poster, depicting the people letting the balloons go and had Leslees picture  in the center,  the kids all thought it was a great way to remember her and needless to say  , she got an A for the day.  I will be thinking about all of you  and know you will have a great time , sending Chris some "fairy dust" to make it a magical week end for her also.

Thanks Julie, hoping as many as possible spread the word. Thanks for releasing the balloon..we are not able to hold the balloon release, as we got word we would have protesters at the event if we did. We changed the venue to a tree planting ceremony instead. At least a few balloons will be going up, one from you, one from Ireland, and one in Arizona..so I guess  Chris's balloons will get released all the same. Thank you for thinking of us, while we are holding the event. so many here are not able to make it to Chicago, and they will be with us in spirit..I believe Gail is going to film the event, and get it up on youtube, shortly after. Sorry you cannot make it in person.

Hi,
I am unable to attend the conference, but would love to post the information about the awareness ceremony on my ceremony on my facebook site. I did a search about Monaco ballroom and I think I have the
right hotel. The hotel I found is in Skokie,IL. I will be thinking of all of you and on  Saturday
at 3 pm I am going to release a teal ballon  in rememberence of those who are fighting the
fight and those who have found peace from the fight. I really hope Chris can make the trip.
Thanks to everyone who has put this event together. I hope there will be a lot of

Oh, I can't wait.  It is a dream come true to meet so many wonderful friends in person.  I imagine all the events will be at the same hotel we are staying.  I am fervently praying that Chris may be able to make it.  She and TC and Gail have done so much to make this all happen.  To honour our friends who have gone before and who are unable to attend will be such a special and meaningful time.  Everyone who participates here will be in our hearts.

    medhelp does not want us posting the name of the hotel on the website, so cannot post that..only one ballroom so it will be easy to find but it is called "the monaco ballroom". As for details that will be a surprise lol sorry love, but it will be honoring the survivors, and remembering those gone. Will give out one thing..we have a guitarist, and singer..and gifts for those attending (thats two) lol.

Can you give us more specific details about the awareness ceremony at 3pm Saturday, name of hotel, which ballroom, some of what will go on (I know you don't want to give out all details)....
I cannot wait to meet everyone and am so excited to be coming. Thank you to you, Chris and Gail for all your hard work in making this happen. Love you!
