Yes, do follow up right away and go to the women's cancer network to locate a gynecologic oncologist if you need surgery. Best wishes! :)
Thank you. The doctor that found it is insisting I see my GYN immediately. This appeared out of no where and is going rapidly.
Any complex mass "can" be cancer but be assured the odds are with you that it is benign. There is no way to know for sure without surgery to biopsy the mass. How big is your mass? If it is under 5cm, doctors tend to watch and wait for a bit to see if it goes away. If it is over 5cm they generally like to remove them.
Depending on your test results, age, other symptoms, etc. your doctor should refer you to a gynecologic oncologist if cancer does end up being suspected. It is not the usual case for a mass that isn't suspicious. A gyn usually handles those but be sure to ask to have a consult with one if your mass is suspicious and you need surgery.
Try not to worry (I know that is easier said than done). But, I can tell you that I have seen so many women post with your same question and only in couple of cases did it end up being cancer. The internet can really scare you. But, the truth is that both benign and malignant masses cause similar symptoms. Best wishes.
