Waiting For My Results

Hi:

Just received my latest lab results and my CA-125 is a 4. My treatment of 4 rounds of taxol/carbo is complete.I had a PET and CT scan this week. Did not like the catheter for the PET scan. I see the doctor next week for my results. I was diagnosed 1c. I can't believe I've made it this far. What does the doctor discuss with you after treatment is complete and regarding the results of the scans?

I am back to work full-time and my work keeps me going. I'm able to get out some and have some fun, but have to pace myself. At times, my legs feel rubbery when I do too much. Sometimes I have bursts of energy and at other times, I'm just spent, particularly in the evenings after work, and I just put my pajamas on and hang out in the bed in the evening, reading, resting or watching t.v.

Thanks for listening~

You've done well!  Congratulations!

I'm a 1A, seven years out from surgery, and I still see the doctor twice a year and have blood tests four times a year.  I kept my port for five years (I have trouble with blood draws), so I couldn't go more than six weeks between CA-125s until the port was gone.  I had reduced the doctor visits gradually over time.  You'll do whatever you and your doctor are comfortable with.  Go as often as you need for reassurance and as infrequently as you can so you don't think about it a lot.

God willing, you will gradually get back to where you want to be.

As Teresa said, the worst is over.  Put on your hiking boots and climb that recovery hill, take a break and look at the wonderful scenery on the way.  You will be OK!!

It looks as though you are over the worst part now. Congratulations on having the strength to get through it.  You've had a rough year.

I am glad the treatment is behind you and you are doing well.  Keep up the resting for a while.  I know what you mean about the rubbery legs feeling!  I don't know the follow-up for 1C.  For me after treatment ended I got a CA125 monthly for a while then every 3 months.  I got a CT scan every 3 months.  Take care and stay well, Marie
