60cm cyst??

okay ...
I went in for another ultrasound today as my gyno surgeon wanted to check out the locations of my anatomy etc and have them tagged on an ultra sound. She also wanted the original 14 cm cyst double checked for growth etc.
The cyst I was told I had was 14x14x10cm . Apparently.. this new technician/Dr ( it was a new diagnostic imaging clinic) have discovered that...
I feel absolutely disgusting...
the cyst is roughly 60 cm and is covering my entire abdomen except a small portion on the left side.Yes it is an ovarian cyst.
The Dr estimated about 20-30 lb of fluid . I told him to stop talking to me right there. I was having trouble processing what he was saying .
ummm..
help?

That is great that things are going so quickly.  Mine was like that also. Of course you feel like you are in a whirlwind don't you?  I really feel for those women you get dragged all over tarnation before they find out what is wrong.  That is worse.
It is nice that you have a loving, devoted husband and just let him keep that role.  I try to have a friend go with my husband and I.  He is my comfort and my friend can ask the questions. Actually, he asks quite a few now but at first he was just as shell shocked as I was so having the friend there really helped.   It makes a HUGE difference to have a supportive spouse through all of this and we are both apparently very lucky. My husband and I got married while I was in remission last summer, and he knew it could come back any time and it did.  The day of our wedding I was SO sick and he kept popping pills into me so I could stand up and say my vows and eat with our guests.  The next day I had a 102 fever and I knew it was back.  So, for all the yucky stuff that has been going on there have been several blessings mixed in.
I can't tell you how many times in the last 18 months I have wished my mom was here to help me through this, but than i think I am glad she didn't have to see one of her girls get this monster also.  I hope wherever she is, she doesn't blame herself for the odd gene that I got.  I got a lot of great things from her also.
Well, you continue to take care, ask alot of questions and try to get some lite exercise before the surgery.  Start taking little walks if you can with that extra half a person you have to carry around.
Do keep us informed about your progress and when everything is scheduled.
Take care,
Jan

Thankyou ,
SimplyStar I am being referred to a gyno oncologist and should be in to see their team on Tuesday or Wednesday. I have copies of all the ultrasounds and test results etc just in case I need to go to emergency before then. Thankyou for all of your comments. Ive been taking ideas from all of you . My older sister has been coming to the doctor appointments with me and my husband ( he tends to focus more on me and my reactions then what the doctor is saying ) . I may be in for surgery by the 25th of March .
She did mention an open procedure as well . Im nervous but feeling so much better that things are being pushed through so quickly.
thankyou all again ,
Tam

Hi bratty_girl,
I'm not sure about the size.  Yours was big and seemed to either get bigger or wasn't seen all the way the first time.  At this point, as far as the surgery goes, you'll be having an open procedure.  Your cyst is too big for a laparoscopy.

I've learned from this forum that size doesn't matter.  They can all cause symptoms and for sure worry.  I am so glad that you didn't get put on the wait and see track.  If you weren't referred to a GYN/ONC I would talk with the doctor about it.  You need a 2nd opinion at least.

I hope that you were able to take someone with you today.  Also, write all your questions down.

Good luck!
Lori

I was not being rude at all, was just saying with all the tests showing what  is there,  that you need to get it taken care of ASAP.  The sooner you get rid of that large tumor, the better you will feel. I have seen some very large tumors surgically removed and  the most important thing I can pass on to you is to make sure your surgeon is a GYN/Onocologist,  they are much more qualified in this area, not that you have cancer, but it is better for experience to have a good look around and do whatever is necessary  at one time. The reason for the saying "So whats your problem", was merely to say, don't wait around on this, get it taken care of.  Many of these ladies on here are put on a wait and see thing,  but when the scans show clearly what the problem is, then  is the time to take care of it.  Marty

I guess the whole purpose of the post was to hear feedback and maybe some reassurance regarding the size of the cyst. Ive never heard of one so large and wanted some input. I dont know much about cysts as Ive never had one and never has any of the women in my family.Ive also been lucky enough to have never needed surgery of any kind .I was also curious if the removal of it would be the same as say.. the 14 cm cyst.
So I really hope your comment of "So whats the problem?" is more of a reassurance then the initial rudeness *I* felt when first reading it.
Thankyou all for your     kind   responses. Headed to the surgeons today .

Yes, I see your concern...read your previous post.

Like these wise women have said, go to a GYN/ONC, get it out so they can get a biopsy.  When everything is fine, you can relax and recover.

Taking someone with you is a good idea.  You need to listen to the doctor b/c he needs to explain things to you.  If you are unable to listen b/c you're so freaked out then your 'other person' needs to be someone calm.

Good luck,
Lori

When you go back to your Dr to discuss options, take a friend who can ask questions you forget to ask and can take notes and write everything down.  He'll say a lot of things you will forget to respond to but if you take notes you can ask him that stuff later.  As you said, it is tough to process what they throw at you sometimes.

Quit feeling disgusting.  I do know how you feel though.  After my surgery my onc told my husband that at least i had my flat stomach back.   That is probably the largest cyst I have ever heard of and it has got to come out soon.

Take care of yourself, follow the drs advice if you trust him, if not get another Dr.  Let us know how you do and what you decide.
Kindest Regards,
Jan

So whats the problem?  You got the answers to what you have,  now get an appointment with an GYN/Onocologist  and have the tumour surgically removed.  You will have to have a laperotomy, because one that size cannot be delivered by scope. The sooner the better also. They will do a path report on the tissue and let you know the results. 99% of tumors are benign, but one that size needs looking at. Be sure your surgeon is qualified.
