Hello everyone. My surgery was on January 29th and I came home yesterday. Not feeling too bad considering a had a TAH with a 6 inch vertical incision!
There was good news and no so good news. The 10cm mass that they thought (after 3 doctors and an ultrasound and MRI) was ON my right overay wound up to BE my right ovary! See, it's true, ya never know until you get in there. The left ovary looked normal as did everything else (cervical polyp, uterine lining, lymph nodes, etc.). And, the surgeon said I did have endometriosis before menopause. Who knew? I always had heavy bleeding and pain but not once did my old gyn mention the word endometriosis. Not that I'm blaming him. He always said I had dysmennorea. I loved him and went to him for years. And since the internet wasn't really around, I never looked any further.
The path came back borderline so the gynoc stepped in and took samples, etc.
My surgeon was surprised, but was very upbeat. He said when the pathology comes back they'll know if I don't need any further treatment or if I just need a "few." He said I will get myself in shape (meaning: lose weight!), get healthy, and live a long life. I'm going to keep him to his word.
All you ladies, thank you thank you thank you. You are doing what is known in Hebrew as a "mitzvah" by putting out all this great information and helping everyone. I knew what to ask and what to bring to the hospital and the support you all give is just phenomenal.
I am very hopeful and it's all because of you!
