Is it possible cyst has ruptured???

I'm almost to worried to post this in case I jinx myself. As you know I am waiting for surgery to remove my ovaries due to pain associated with 6cm ovarian cyst on right ovary and 3cm one on left ovary. Last Tuesday night the pain associated with these cysts was excruciating. Nothing I took could relieve the pain, and I was basically crippled for at least 3 hours. The following day was still very painful, but not as intense, and I felt nauseated and extremely tired. The weird thing is, that since then, the pain I've been experiencing on a daily basis for 6 months, has mysteriously eased. Could a cyst thats been present for 6 months all of a sudden rupture, and if so, what would be the likely hood of it returning?? My life has felt like its been on hold for the past 6 months as I've dealt with pain daily, and all of a sudden the pain has eased and I'm trying to think, that maybe I won't need this surgery after all. Any thoughts, don't want to get my hopes up, but after 6 months, its the weirdest feeling, not having that constant pain. Could it really be gone????

Thanks everyone, again. TrudieC, I am booked in for another ultrasound in 3 weeks, and to have my CA-125, which apparently is elevated, although I'm not sure of the reading. Then I have my follow up appointment with GYN, on Dec 3rd, at which time they should give me a definate date for surgery. If I can get to then, I'm hoping surgery will be just after christmas, as my husband has a month off work then, and my 10 yr old will be on school holidays, and I know I will be able to recover mentally alot better, when I don't have the worry about the extra things. I do realise I'm pushing my body to extremes, and pain meds are just a band-aid at the moment, and hope I don't regret my desicision to put this off for so long.

hi, i had the same experience with you last march, when i learned I had cyst I was really scared... it was 11 cm on my right ovary and after a month it goes to 13 cm.. and 5 cm on my left ovary. I went home for 2nd opinion. My OB asked me for another ultrasound and when he saw the result he said to remove the ovary as its already getting bigger. 2 days before my schedule for surgery i felt pain in my right ovary side so the doctor re-scheduled the surgery again as i have UTI. The day of my surgery right after the operation when I woke up the doctor informed me that my cyst has raptured already maybe around 3 days before my operation.. was thinking maybe one of the reason why my right side is in pain at that time.

Here's my other blogsite you can visit to see how it looks like the raptured cyst. Just copy the link and post to your address bar (tab)

I had twisted ovary and cyst. Ovary was twisted 6 times and cyst was twisted 3 times. I experienced extreme pain when there was no blood supply to right ovary. At that time, I had fever and nausea, but that was due to infection.
Raptured cyst also cause pain and extreme pain last for short duration (1-7 days)

I would think that it is possible that it might have twisted and then untwisted.  Or, it burst and then another cyst is growing.  It might be wise to have another ultrasound before the surgery.

Thanks for your thoughts. Went out shopping today, first time in ages as I tend to stay home on my 2 days off a week, as I've just been exhausted dealing with the pain and meds. Anyways, started getting those dreaded twinges coming back so guessing this cyst is still here. Maggie12345, if my ovary had twisted, wouldn't i be having some really bad symptoms at the moment. Your comment did make me realise though, that next time to go to ER, as I didn't even think of torsion, and it sounds terrible. Plus, I don't want emergency surgery, as my GYN is making sure he's well prepared, as my surgery will be complicated because of mesh removal first, and a forest of adhesions. Oh joy!!!!

I am wondering the same thing about my self at the moment.. I have an ultra sound scheduled on the 23rd of Oct; so we will see..

I just posted a question to the forum, but I will tell you in short that I had been experiencing all the same symptoms - and then after a sudden bout of pain comparable to child birth, it disappeared.. it has been 10 days since the most intense pain; but the burning and pressure are starting to return, and that has got me worried.. (along with a few other symptoms)

I will post my results of my US; but I hope that you see the doctor soon, and with any luck you wont have to have the surgery.. Best hopes for you!

Check your doctor, first confirm whether it was raptured cyst not twisted ovary.
