Recovery

Hi all

I am scheduled to have laproscopic surgery next week to remove a cyst and endometrosis.  I am an law enforcement officer and the doctor said I could resume full unrestricted duty in a week.  I have been doing research on the procedure and it seems the average recovery time is about two weeks but people are still not able to lift items or do strenuous activities.  My concern is my equipment which weighs about 12lbs around my waist and my vest.  I am also concerned about my ability to engage in physical activity if I have to defend myself.  I would appreciate any advice or information from anyone else who has been in a similiar situation.  Thanks!

Hi, I am 7 days post laproscopic surgery to remove a cyst from left ovary. I've been signed off for 2 weeks and certainly don't feel well enough to return to work yet and my job is not strenuous! I can't even look after my children (I have a very heavy baby!) and have had to call on a lot of help!  I know everyones different, but don't rush things especially with your job! Good luck

A week sounds a bit quick for your line of work. Admitted I never read up on laparoscopy, so im a bit out of my depth here. You may get a different answer if you ask about full contact sports/martial arts?
Good luck :)
