bloating s/p laparoscopic sx

I had surgery last fri..today is mon....not much of an appetite and prob because I'm bloated....yes, I'm passing urine and moving bowels. I get up and move around. I stayed home from work today and glad I did because I felt fatigue despite good sleep and although cramping has subsided compared to the weekend, I was uncomfortable for a bit earlier today.  I am eating but not the portions I normally wud eat....just can't get into it. I got turned off eating soy nuts and almonds earlier. I can't even think about what they did to me  during surgery or watch The Doctors without getting turned off and I'm usually into that medical stuff...I'm a Occupational Therapy practitioner so I'm used to seeing or talking about "bodily things" if u know what I mean.......1) how long will this bloating and lack of appetite last? I dont mind the thought of losing a little belly jiggle but I know the way I feel is not the norm. 2) When can I start doing abdominal exercises again....jogging and lifting weights? I usually do about 10 - 12# each hand with a dumbbell or up to 30# using both hands using a bar bell...

Good to know about nuts..I thought to avoid foods with too much sodium ...like non home made soups. also...it has also been "difficult" to move bowels and I don't want to push...so I will.look into that also.....thinking some bloatedness can also be due to skipping period last month (minus the details...but no Not pregnant) and starting next months birth control pills....per OB. I noticed I had looked a little bloated before sx and worse after with Co2....will ask OB bout this also...thx

When you have laparoscopic surgery they blow your abdomen full of gas.  It will take your body some time to get rid of the trapped gas they were not able to remove when they deflated you after surgery.  What you are feeling is to be expected.

Nuts are not the place to start after surgery.  Eat foods that do not produce gas and digest easily.  Cooked vegetables, chicken, maybe rice or potatoes or soup.  Good nutrition in small quanitities until things get working properly.  Do some walking for exercise and to try to jar the trapped gas.  Take something gentle to help move your bowels after anesthesia and/or pain meds rather than assume they are working up to par.
