I can relate to everything you are saying.  I, too, am one of those people that shy away from needles.  Cannot look when anyone gives a needle or draws blood or I get so queasy and pale, I scare people into thinking I'm going to faint.

I got my very first flu shot this year after years of avoiding it.  For once, fear of the flu was greater than fear of the needle.  Is it possible that at age 49 I am finally growing up?
Ha. ha.  I have discovered, though, that needles have come a long way since I was a kid getting vaccinated.  Today's needles barely hurt at all.

That sounds like a laparotomy (open surgery).  You can read my surgery story in the "about me" section of my profile.  I had a 10+cm cyst removed and both ovaries (same sized incision whether one or both get removed).

You may not like to hear how long the recovery can be.  You will need help with the toddlers especially during the first weeks of the recovery period.  You will not be able to lift children for months afterwards.
