yeah, you would think it would be more common in extreme repeated rape cases, especially when trauma repeats itself, because you disassociate when you get into similar situations, over and over, to the point when normal sex is actually perceived by your brain as increasing trauma.
I bond, intoject and all of that, but I also ended up creating a monster within myself through addiction to the thing that hurt me in the first place.

Thanks but I am not able to talk about it yet. I recommend the New Harbinger Self Workbook called The Post Traumatic Stress workbook. Good luck

Oh yeah, I recognize this.  When something bad happens to me now, I completely dissociate. It is like it is happening to someone else, and I am just watching it in a film or something.  I can't react in the moment.  As for the bonding, I can't say I go that far, but I spend hours, even days and months, going over whether they could be right and I could be wrong.  I spend an inordinate amount of time second guessing whether I am the one with the problem.
To some extent, I think it is healthy to question yourself, it is just that I can't seem to find the line between the two.
Then, I begin to question whether it is my value system that needs to be changed.  Haven't done that, but spend a lot of time questioning.
My current therapist, doesn't really put much stock into all this, ironically, my family doctor diagnosed this years ago, But, he knew my first husband, so..........
And that was before my son nearly died, we got divorced, I had a miscarriage, my business partner stole 50,000. my new boyfriend cheated, and my son developed a serious addiction following all the surgeries.  my Dad died, and, my mother came to live with ME.  You couldn't make this stuff up.
Sometimes, it seems possible to me that this is just life.
Do you have any suggestions about where I can look for more information about this?

I'm there, so if you want to talk.

Here is the definition from about.com

Complex PTSD is a disorder that develops following exposure to chronic, long-lasting traumatic events that generally involve some form of physical or emotional captivity, such as childhood sexual and/or physical abuse, domestic violence, or being in a prisoner-of-war camp. In these types of events, a victim is under the control of another person and does not have the ability to easily escape.

Some of the symptoms include:

* dissociation
* traumatic bonding ( where you bond with your perpertrater)
* Intojecting ( where you take on the beliefs of your perpertrater)
