umbilical cord and bathing..

My son is 1 week old and his umbilical cord just fell of as i was changing his diaper. Is it too soon to bathe him in water? Ive just been washing him with a wash cloth, but we go out to my moms a lot and they have a lot of ticks. Id like to be able to bathe him every few days to make sure he gets checked really good.

Doctor told me to bath him everyday just use dry it afterwords

Omg we had the same due date! I didn't kno you had him!! Congrats. I'm still pregnant .

The nurse showed us how to bath him and then we bathed him every day after that, just used a cotton ball to dry it before and after it fell off. Stuff surrounding the umbilical cord seems to be different here tho then in America.

I bath my daughter the same day hers fell off.

Once the stump falls off you can bath him.
