I never heard that. I went into the water with my first born an everything was fine with him.
I dont think there is anything wrong with it just don't get pulled out too far with the tide.

I've swam in lakes & the beach while being pregnant. Shouldn't hurt. If the water looks disgusting stay out of it
I think what makes it dangerous would be violent waves hitting your belly or knocking you down on your belly. The water is fine though. Don't go to deep where you can be knocked down and hurt baby, other than that unless YOUR dr Told you other wise you'll be fine:)
You also need to drink 12oz of water for every hour you are in the sun so your body temperature does not go above normal.
Wear sun screen and stay in shade when possible
You could become over heated which isn't good for the baby. I would consult it with your doctor before going and see what your doctor says!
