Why do you have to have a full bladder someone else posted that. I have never had my doc. Tell me that and all my u/s have done fine.
Same here.. I've had a few us and no ones ever told me to drink anything
Having a full bladder gets you better pictures and helps to Get a better visual of the baby...also helps the doctors get better measurementsx.......but maybe try drinking a bottle or two of water 30 minutes before you go....that's what I did. And drink a little while I was waiting...
Both of my gender U/S's they have told me to drink fluids, I think it may be because he does my gender U/S at 17 weeks, not 20, so the baby is still smaller, and my bladder pushes up the uterus
I'm in the UK and every single scan we have we need a full bladder. I'd phone the doctor because it honestly varies everywhere. But the fuller the bladder the better the scan pic. if you're bladder isn't full enough they may send you home and reschedule for a different scan date.
lol i posted something similar to this! check mine....its called "wearing a diaper to ultrasound" lol because im trying to figure out how much to drink! i have my ultrasound on monday and i really dont believe my bladder can hold 24oz of fluids lol
if i drink powerade in 5 minutes i have to dart to the bathroom hope that helps :D
They recommend 24-32 oz of water... Or whatever liquid LOL. They tell you water but they just need your bladder full. Haha. It *****. Usually once they get what they need they will let you empty and finish up!
My doc told me 32-46 oz is good its soo it pushes the baby out of ur crotch where they are easy to see and sex. They will normally allow u to go to the bathroom a lil bit after ur in there. This also can help show if there are things wrong.
I'm not too bad about having to go to the bathroom a lot, only at night, it's the WORST, I'll just drink 2 bottles of water and some OJ and hope it's enough!
your the post to drink 1lt is what my doctor told me to drink for the ultrasound. 1 hour away from your appointment, that way your bladder is full for the ultrasound and you have to hold it no matter how bad it is=P. this was the part that i hated so much was holding my bladder=/.
I'll be muchhh too excited to find out if it's a boy or girl to care, hahah I might pee myself when they tell me what it is!
Okay my doctors office told me to do this too and i drank like four bottles of water in two hours before my ultrasound, and the doctor starting laughing at me and told me to go empty it because my bladder was so full it was blocking the baby!
I see a fetal specialist with high tech equipment so i never had to do that be i thought you only have to do it for early ultrasounds so that they could clearly see the uterus vs the bladder. Man.... i think its just one more way for doctors to make us uncomfortable and suck the fun out of seeing your baby. Lol
I had one at 8wks and didnt have a full bladder and we couldnt see much.at all she said it needed to be full for her to check my ovaries.
