I was induced as a ftm. I was 3 days over. I got started on pitocin at 7am on the 8th. I had horrible contractions all day until about 6pm. I didn't make any progress, no dialtion, no softening, nothing. So they stopped the pitocin, let me eat, and shower. Around 7pm they came in and gave me the cervadil. By 8 the next morning they turned the pitocin back on. I continued having contractions all thru the night, they were just small. I still wasn't making any progress when they checked me around 10am. Finally my water broke on it's on about noon. I dialted from 1cm to 10cm in 5 hours. Spent 28 minutes pushing and had my baby boy at 5 34 pm on the 9th. I was in labor for 34 hours. The contractions were horrible, idk if that's labor in general or because of the pitocin. I had an epidural and it was sooo worth it. However your labor & delivery goes it will be the greastest feeling you ever feel! There's nothing like holding your baby for the first time!
My first was Pitocin. Over 25hrs active labor. The second I saw my son I knew I could do it all over again!
I was induced with my son...I went in the hospital at 5pm on a Tuesday when I got there they put in the cervidial to soften my cervix takes 12hrs at around 9 am Wednesday they broke my water...I got pain meds to help me sleep...around 5pm or so I was fully dialated but I had trouble pushing my son out because I have a small pelvis and his head wasn't the right way...he was born at 8:59 pm so I was in actual labor for less than 12 hrs
I was sorta induced... I really dont like to call it that though because all they gave me was a pill called cytotech that the dr put on my cervix to soften it.. It was enough to start some little contractions but labor didnt start until 6 hours after getting the pill and then they gave me a 2nd one also... But I was also 41 weeks and 5 days when they gave me that. But the plan was to give me that pill at 6pm, the dr was going to break my water at 4am and start pitocin.. However by 4 am I was at 4cm so he waited til 6am to break my water and I was at 8cm by then... So he broke my water and they started pitocin 3 hours later when I was pushing cuz my contractions had slowed down from 1 minute apart to 3 minutes apart... I had a 8 hour labor and after a little over an hour of pushing my 7lb 11oz 13 day late baby girl was born healthy and screaming!! :)
I have heard that if they start you straight off on pitocin that it will give you a horrible long labor if your body isnt ready for labor.. Just because you will be 4 days over due doesnt mean that your baby is ready to come out. I know its hard being pregnant past when you were expecting to be pregnant but really I am glad I waited until my body finally did something. I was facing a c section if my body didnt do anything by 42 weeks pregnant and even at 41+5 my dr gave me a 60% chance of a vaginal delivery... I am hoping that they are inducing you just for the babies sake but they really are ok in there until 42 weeks.... good luck to you. Oh and I was a ftm too when this happened.
We're you induced with pitocen
I was induced as a ftm it was a crazy experiance! I was in labor for 25 hours!I didn't have any kind of pain med an my body couldn't handle the epidurel so it was a lot at one time but I got through it my lil munchkin is 3 now I still remember tht day like it was yest have my second on the way hoping its a lot easier. Everyone is different but its good to be prepared
I was induced as a ftm. It wasn't very pleasant. I was in labor for 15 hours. That's not including the 4 I was waiting in the hospital just to start the induction. Its all worth it in the end though. Good luck
Not as a ftm but I have been induced before. I was given a pessarie then told I could go for a walk (but not too far) until the contractions started. They started about 3 hours later. It was a very fast labor, but that may be because he was my third baby. Everything worked out well as far as the induction went and the actual labor was no different to when I wasn't induced.Good luck, it is scary and exciting but you will be fine. I actually think it id better to know when it is going to happen
