Medicaid

Is there any way to apply for medicaid for just my baby and not me before she is born? Most places say I need her SSN to apply but I won't get that for a while after she's born but will still be getting bills.

I qualify for Medicaid and its because I was pregnant. I'm due in Dec. But they will.cover the baby up until Feb.

In idaho where I am I was able to get pregnancy medicaid which covers all doctors visits requarding anything with or for the baby. All I had to do was go to a clinic that did free pregnancy testing so I had proof from a doctor that I was pregnant.

In S.C after the baby is born they're automatically added to the mothers insurance. And we don't have to apply for them until they're a year old. I would call your local office and see what their policy is for newborns.

Also after baby is born, they are covered under your insurance for the first 30 days.

They need a name, birth date, and SS#. You can't do it before they are born

I wanted the same thing because I already have insurance. I just went ahead and applied and ill add my son once he comes and use the Medicaid as back up, I've only had to use it once for myself and that was for a prescription the va wouldn't fill because they were closed on Columbus Day so I just took it to cvs and it didn't cost.

In tennessee, you cannot apply until after baby is born. Ours will pay bills back dated up to 60 days, i believe. But here they will do it all as soon as he/she is born.
