I feel like I'm suffocating. :(

I am about 10 weeks in and I have had pregnancy rhinitis for about two weeks and I've tried everything to cope with this.  It's so bad that sometimes I can barely breathe even through my mouth and I panic, and I'm not a panicker.  I used Afrin twice and Sudafed once (both barely worked but at least they were a little bit of a help) out of desperation and then I was horrified that I had done that and now I'm worried that I may have done something bad.  I use Vicks rub every five minutes and especially after using the neti pot and that doesn't even work.  The Neti pot used to be my old stand by.  And I've also been told recently that the mentol and eucalyptus in Vicks is bad for the baby!

It's like my only lease in life is to deal with this congestion 24/7, I'm exhausted and my work is suffering.  

Has anyone had any experiences like this?  Can I just take sudafed and be OK?  I'm about to cry.  My doctor says it's just a thing that woman have to deal with, like I just have a runny nose or something!

Hi!  Thanks so much!  I'm just worried about taking it during the 1st trimester, I don't want to make a mistake.  I'm a paranoid pregnant lady.  ;)  I'd HAPPILY take a sudafed for some relief!  I need a break!  And thanks for the info, I have the non-PE sudafed, you're completely right!  Did you take the full dose, the two pills?  I only took a half does, one pill, and it didn't work so well.

I took sudafed for when I had my sinus problems. It was the only thing that helped. Just make sure it's the original kind, not PE. That's what my midwife told me. I'm not too sure about the afrin. I only needed the one thing for mine. You should be fine, don't worry.
