My water broke maybe half an hour before my contractions started, I headed to the birthing center about 12 hours later when contractions were less than 5 minutes apart, my son arrived almost exactly 21 hours after SROM.
My waters break very close to the end of my labours. I have to push really hard for them to break (harder than when I push out the head!) and there's a sharp snap inside that I feel, almost like if you cut a stretched elastic. My last baby came out 3 minutes after my waters broke and only because I was holding her in (to give myself a chance to stretch)!
Almost 3 days after my water broke
My water was leaking from a high tear at the top for almost twelve hours and finally went to hospital (thought it was just discharge) then admitted and put on pitocin. My water finally completely broke at 8 cm and I pushed an hour and feet that
Contractions started 10 hrs later n baby wasn't born till next day.
I stayed home till contractions were close enough, round about 4-5 cm dialated
To the first comment that's incorrect. You are not always in labour when your water breaks.... With my last I has PROM and labour didn't start so 13 hours after my water broke they started induction. It took about 30-60 min to kick in then I had her within 9 hours. My water broke with my first during labour and I didn't know because I was in the bath/shower trying to relieve the pain - didn't know I was in labour. My second burst in hosp when I got called in for induction (before induction could start) and my third was broken for me - induced due to health problems... That being said with my PROM baby I had to deliver at 8 cm due to her in distress. The nurse in the room didn't listen to me when I said there was something wrong and she went off for her feed with another nurse. About an hour later she comes in and NICU rushes in trying to suction her etc. She was born with pneumonia as well as jaundice. Docs are assuming because of the PROM.
My waters did not brake before contractions started my last labor my water broke about 5mins before my daughter was born. if u suspect ur waters have broken please go to labor and delivery so they can test to see if ur waters have in fact broken and monitor you until baby is born. If your waters have broken and u dont go to hospital to be monitored u could potentially get an infection. Goodluck
Once your water breaks you are in lava so go to the hospital and they will give u meds to help dilate you and the baby is normally out within 24 hours
