Water

Just wondering when everyone started giving there babies sips of water?

Cole is 6 months old and started veggies yesterday. I have heard not to start it till later, but his ped recommended starting it with the veggies to help wash it down and so he dont get constipated..

Please feel free to explain your reasonings!!

I agree that small sips are fine like I said on your FB post..idk if you saw that though it was a week or so ago. You just don't want to give a large quantity of it to fill up his belly...but as I've said it will help wash the sugars from the foods off his gums and help keep his digestive tract from stopping up too badly...so small sips away :) adorable picture of him with the sippy cup btw..he looks like he's saying "wtf...is this..."

I always gave my abbies a sipper cup of water when feeding them with like a few sips in it. It is good training for them to get used to drinking from a sippy cup or even a regular cup to be able to stop a bottle at a year. They will just play at first taking the random actual drink that they swallow. It is fine he does not like it now, it is very thin compared to what he is used to. But water is very good for him and once he is older should be his main drink except for milk.

ive let her drink water for a while like 3 months. i just let her sip it out of my glass most of the time. i never really thought twice about it. cause she has water in her formula. but for constipation id use apple juice thats what ive already done.

My son was always really constipated as a baby and at about 4 months his Dr told me to give him a few ounces of water per day. I usually gave him an ounce or  two a couple times a day so he'd still eat normally

My Franky is 3.5 months old and gets constipated about once a week.  So, after his bottle I will give him an ounce of water from a bottle.  It doesn't interfere with his nutrition and helps the constipation within the hour.  Doctor supports this saying that it is better to give him that rather than any juice or meds at this age.  I don't think a few sips would hurt your baby at 6 months =)

I started my son off on food at around 6months, i also introduced water to him at around the same time. Cooled boiled water of course! Its supposed to be good for constipation too...dont know how true that is!
