Wearing a diaper to an U/S

With the amount of water they want me to drink for monday's ultrasound, im nervous im going to pee my pants!!! (i plan on drinking some orange juice too so the baby can be active) but has anyone else worn a diaper to their ultrasound??

for my first pregnancy i remember i had to pee soooo bad!! it was so bad that i didnt care about looking at my baby on the screen, i just wanted to pee soooooooooooo bad because it was soooo painful. Do i REALLY need to drink three 8oz glasses of water just before my ultrasound?? This one is to find out the gender and check out the growth :3

soo?!

hey there,
they told me 8 oz. of water an hour before. i did that for my first and i was in so much pain they said i could pee a little before the ultrasound...i did that three times. then when i finally got to the appointment the tech told me not to listen to the recommended amount but to just have a full bladder/need to pee. cause he said i had a small bladder and let me go as soon as he could allow it. then told HE told ME that i must have had a long one!
so if you ask me, it all depends on your body and how well you know it. if a cup of juice will make you pee then go with that.
best of luck and i hope you get a beautiful view of baby.

That is messed up.  I never had to drink anything before any of my ultrasounds and i had an ultrasound twice a month and now once a week. That just sounds like they want to torture you. They must have older equipment.

No normally they ask you top drink lots before earlier ultrasounds but you shouldn't have to for this one. At leads drink 16 oz total maybe but I drank 24 before my appt and had to pee really bad and they said our want necessary to do that. At least do the orange juice and they had me go pee in the middle of my ultrasound so that it would make baby move. It did help and made me feel better to.

I took the water with me and drank it in the office while I was waiting for them to call my name I also sipped on it on the way I only got about half the bottle gone and the tech said it was perfect she even said I was almost too full lol

At my doctor they make us drink 36 ounces of water before coming in and are only allowed to pee 1 1/2 hours before.. Talk about bladder pains!! Lol

I never drank the amount that they told me to because when I would go in they would need the baby to move and it would stubborn so they would tell me to empty my bladder and see if that would make the baby move, so before appointments I would drink a glass of water on my way there ( my dr is 30 minutes away ) I know that once you hit 14 weeks you do not have to have a full bladder for them to see the baby the reason you need one for an earlier scan is because your uterus is still below your pelvic bone and having a full bladder helps to push it up.

Honestly in the UK we have to have a full bladder before every single scan. Everywhere is different, some use different ultrasound equipment

I think every sonographer is different as for my 1st scan at 12wks they wanted me to empty my bladder and then ay 20wk gender scan they said they like my bladder not empty but not full which was perfect coz i purposely didnt want to be in pain and fear or weeing myself during the scan. Just go in with it half full and a bottle of water so if they moan u can top up x

My ultrasound tech told me its not that hard to find the sex of the baby and that they hate it when people drink juice or coffee before going in because then the baby is all jacked up and won't sit still so they can't do their measurements. So the stories you hear about people going to find out the sex and then being sent home because their baby was backwards and wouldn't move are very rare. Just don't **** off your ultrasound tech or they may ask you what you drank and send you home because you drank it. She said it irritates them bigtime because people are so uneducated about

That's so odd lol.. With my son, I got there and was supposed to find out the gender and she asked if I needed to go to the bathroom because my bladder was really full. All I had was a little water Lol... She made me go to the restroom and I was still able to find out the gender.

When I found out this time, my bladder was almost empty because I kept peeing so much before the ultrasound.

I was told that with my first but they asked if I had to use the restroom when I got there. Then for my others they said just don't pee blank hour before coming in, but still ask if I have to use the restroom. They usually want u to keep fluids in so it's easier to see things but I wouldn't drink so much that I'm ready to pee myself before even getting there. With the diaper..I'm not sure if it'd matter, but I wear my pants to my hips and they still pull them down a bit plus lift up the front of my pants lto get the towel tucked in, so they'd probably notice. And if you peed a little, well chances are you won't be able to stop if you really have to go then drinking all that and holding all that in for so long would be a bit pointless.

That's strange. When I went to mine they didn't tell me to drink anything, my little boy was sleeping the entire time and that actually made my u/s tech happy because she was able to do all the measurements without him moving. I had to pee, but only from like one bottle of water

If you don't drink enough sometimes its not.clear enough and they have to send you home and rearrange another scan. X

I would def drink the recommended amount. I will be wearing an incontinence pad to my twenty week scan on Wednesday. With my first I remember being so close to peeing myself..and then they were 45mins late..so when they pressed on bump I was dying to pee. They let me have a wee once all major things were done..so uncomfortable tho xx
