Don't give up. Sometimes it may seem like your not producing just drink lots of water and yes switch breasts. I breast fed my first for 2 years

The biggest thing I think is getting through those first few days. I ended up sore and it hurt to let my daughter latch but I kept putting my own breast milk and the lanolin on my nipple and it helped! I nursed my daughter for 11 months. I didn't introduce any other form of a nipple or pacifier at all. The hospital had breastfeeding classes for me and a lactation consultant came in a few different times during my stay at the hospital to answer any questions. Good luck, the best you can do is try!

I plan to do breast only and no bottles for the first couple of months so my milk doesn't decrease. I want to breastfeed as long as possible! :)

My nipples were also inverted i was so upset thinking i wouldnt b able to breastfeed but my wic consultant helped me a lot with a breast pump which helped in some way to pull my nipple out.. Also, try to breastfeed as much as you can because thats what is going to help get enough supply and your nipple out.. Good luck

The best piece of advice that was given to me was DON'T GIVE UP!! Even if everything goes perfectly in the beginning its still very trying. In the beginning the baby basically nurses around the clock trying to establish your supply. And if there are problems call a lactation consultant. They helped me tremendously. Usually around six weeks things start to calm down and you get into a rhythm.  So if you can make it till then you are all set. Despite MANY problems in the beginning I exclusively breastfed for six months and then continued on until my baby was eighteen months old when sadly she weaned :( good luck momma!

Yay! :)

I bought some nipple shells, the ones that draw out your nipple if they're flat or inverted. Not the nipple sheilds that you can use for feeding. I hated those while feeding my first, they hurt me and kept falling off while he was eating so he kept getting upset..Have you had to use the nipple shells and did it work? Mine are flat so I have been wearing them about 30 mins a day hoping by the time he is born my nipples won't be flat anymore and he'll have a great latch

Thanks! :) I can't wait! I tried with my first but I wasn't successful and I didn't really look into getting help. I really want to this time! It's such a great bonding experience.

To establish the best milk supply switch breasts during one feeding a couple times.

Don't go longer than 6 hours without feeding(some newborns sleep longer than that the first couple days)

Always feed baby when they're hungry breastfed babies don't have a schedule they eat when they want and sometimes they cluster feed which means they eat every 30 minutes for a couple hours

Breastfeeding should not hurt after the first minute make sure baby has a good latch

No matter what stick to it and call a lactation consultant if needed don't be embarrassed a lot of women need them(I did)

After feeding allow your milk to dry on your nipples this is the best way to keep them soft and supple

If you're worried your baby isn't getting enough don't worry. As long as your baby has 5+ wet diapers in 24 hours you're all good.
