carseats

My husband and I only have trucks that only have a front seat. We don't exactly have the money to afford a new vehicle and a baby.. Any suggestions??

A truck for some reason is actually made safer then the cars now days. If u have a full size truck it is just as safe as having them in the backseat of some plastic and barely there metal car. And plus they will be in the middle of the truck so the have space incase of side inpack crashes. My husband drives our kids around in his older truck and I actually feel that they are safer in that truck then my brand new suv.

Babies are at risk in ANY car. Yes a backseat may be safer but if you don't have one you do what you gotta do and no one knows what kind of truck she has to be saying she can get a better car you have no idea. As long as you drive safely just like you would in any other vehicle the risk is probably about the same.

Wow calm down. Of course people with trucks are going to obviously say that its ok. She was just stating the facts that kids are more at risk when in front seat of a truck. She didnt offend me one bit. If you ask a question be prepared for opinions.

Ok im just say u have a paid off truck u can sell it on craigslist for cash then buy a car with that cash. Since trucks hold more value than cars u will be able to get a nicer car than u have truck... What is so complicating sbout that? Carseats.oeg says that children in front seat are %30 more likely to result in death if in an accident even without the airbags.... Ive never known anyone to do that so i was just shocked that it was legal... Do what ever u want its ur kid ur risk, u asked for opinions and thats what i gave, sry if anyone was offended by answering a question that wasnt favoring ur opinion

its fine my mother has a truck since my first child and they would drive with her with the airbags off .. if u put it this away accidents does happen no matter what front or back .. ur baby could be well back there and someone comes and destroyes the hell out of it .. so it goes both ways !

Girl drive that baby around in ur truck there is nothing wrong with that my dad done it six times and with a camper on the back thats where we all sat.......it would be stupid to trade it in for a car as some have stated.....thats whats wrong with this world...........im not trying to offend anyone but y would u trade a paid truck in for something youre gonna have to make payments for as long as the baby is buckled in it will be fine.........sorry some people found it easier to to judge you rather then just answering a simple question.....

I wouldn't worry about it just put baby in the middle and make sure the airbag is off. Make sure the car seat you get will fit. Some of those infant carrier ones that go up to 30 lbs can be bigger then you would think.

I had the same question as you my boyfriend only has a truck too I just wondered if the hospital will allow you to leave the hospital in the truck.

Feel like crap... And we had already looked into trading and selling them and we wouldn't be able to afford a reliable car with it

Ok i did not post this to be judged... It is not illegal and i have talked to my sheriff father on law and he said if you have no backseat it is not illegal and as long as the air bags are off and the baby is in the center it is just as dangerous as a baby in the back seat. So thank you to those who made me

Not safe.. Sell one privately and then buy a car forthat price, trucks r more expensive than cars... Who would drive with a newborn in the front seat? I dunno just sounds weird to me, is that even legal?

No offense  but you guys are being extremely unreasonable..if you trade your truck in you won't get anything worth the amount of your truck unless you get something nicer accompanied by a car payment, that's how car dealerships work .. If the trucks are the ones with the single seat the baby will be fine in the center part of the seat....do not worry and do not feel guilty for driving those trucks with your baby in it as long as the airbags are off and the carseat is buckled in your child will be fine seriously

You said you have trucks, not a truck.  Trade one in for a used car.  You are talking about a baby's safety here, not a whim.

Honestly ive seen ppl drive with their infants in front seat trucks but i honestly dont recomend it its pretty risky. And god forbid u would get in an accident. Have yall talked abt trading it in for an an equal amount of a car

Just turn off the airbags, (unless their old enough to not have them) and if it will fit try to put the carseat in the center. If it needs to be in the passenger keep the seat as far back as possible. (Hard if you are short and its a bench seat but do what you can) Thats about all you can do really. Just work with what ya got.
