With my son 7 years ago i had to have a full bladder but with this preg the lady makes sure i empty my bladder first so i wont be uncomfortable and says it is not necessary to have a full one any more

My Dr makes her patients pee every time they have an appt to test their urine before were even seen so I'm not sure about that.

It depends on how far along you are. Before about 18 weeks you need to be full so they can see baby well. After that it's not necessary since baby is big enough to see with out it. I've had 6 ultrasounds this time & had to ask & this is what my midwife said.

full bladder pushes up and makes a clearer picture for the baby.. But sometimes when you go and empty it, it looks the same idk lol..

Like the other ladies said it depends on your doc/ on how full your bladder is. Cause when ive gone in i dont mind i go with a kinda alright bladder like if i go and use the restroom i go but not too bad you know..just depends

They just ask you to have a full bladder to see your cervix. If it's too full, it can give a false reading. So sometimes they tell you to empty a certain amount out :)

The later on you are you dont nees to as baby is high enough to see. In the early weeks baby is so tiny a full bladder pushes the womb up so they ultrasound tech can see a clear pic

My tech makes me go with a full bladder, does half the exam then asks for it to be emptied, some things they need it full and some empty so its easiest to arrive on a full bladder and empty it when needed rather than try to fill it while your there cause they can't see anything.

It depends on your ultrasound tech, mine said that she almost never has to have a full bladder, but if she has trouble seeing what she needs to then she might ask you to have one. I Go with a full bladder just in case, id rather have it and not need it then get a catheter!

At my 20wk ultrasound I went with a full bladder, but once I got in there the tech told me to go a head and go to the bathroom (i had to go reeeellly bad, i didnt know if I could hold it any longer lol) she still was able to get a great reading from my ultrasond. Also at my 32 wk ultrasound the same thing, I went in with a full bladder and she told me to go a head and go to the bathroom then did my ultrasound. I have a few friends who have said both, that they had to have a full bladder and a couple told me they didn't. So I guess it just depends on your ultrasound tech/doc.
