3 week old baby

My baby boy is 3 weeks today and we seem to have a problem with his nappies....
He leaks out of them EVERY single day. He rarely stays dry. And we're just getting to the point we don't know what to do. We both know how to put a nappy on and we make sure his 'winky' is pointing down and the frilly bits around his legs are always left out instead of tucked in... so where are we going wrong.
First off we thought it was because we bought cheap Asda's own so we changed to Huggies a more upmarket and expensive brand. They seemed to work for a few days but it's just back to square one again... We've had to change him 3 times today due to leaking nappies.... Please if anyone can help us please let us know what were doing wrong!

If you change to to a bigger size, its like he has more space to pee. That's probably why he's doing that. I used pampers and huggies and the same. Till I changed to a bigger size and now nothing. He wears huggies and everything stays in there now.

The same happen to me. When he was at the hospital and at home. His poop was actually coming out too. We changed to a size 1 and now we don't have that problem. He did it a lot. Nothing would stay in there. He's wears huggies too. I would change him to a size 1.

Skye had that issue! We changed from newborn diapers to size ones and it hardly ever happens now!!

I always thought bigger nappies would be worse... Last night he still leaked even though we put it higher up. I guess well have to try pampers. My aunt had the same problem with her son. He leaked in huggies but pampers were good. I guess boys are just awkward!

You.could try pampers. My sisters son leaks out of his huggies a lot. Or try going to size 1, just buy a small pack to test them out you'll need them.sooner or later

If you have the diaper too low in the front they will leak on boys.

Also try a different brand of diapers again..I had to try a few different brands before finding one he didn't leak out of.

I just folded the top part back down away from the belly button as that part can get wet too. I put a little selotape on to hold it down until belly button was completely healed lol. Fingers crossed it works.

We do put the tags on the actual nappy part so weve just changed him now and pulled the front a little higher and hopefully that will work... Hes in newborns yes, and it does have a dip for the belly button but were having to pull the nappy higher to see if itll stop it leaking... luckily his belly button is pretty much healed

It sounds like the nappies may be a little on the large size. Is he in newborns? If so then it may be that they are a little to big still. Try pulling the front of the nappy up higher before putting the tags on so that they are fixed to the white part of the nappy rather than the patterned strip at the top. This will give him a more snug fit around the legs. I found that the cheaper nappies did leak occasionally and mine got nappy rash more frequently with them, so it is worth spending a little extra if you can.If it keeps happening you can buy the plastic coated pants which are used for the towel nappies but it may give him a little extra protection if you use them over the disposables. You are not doing anything wrong, you just need to experiment a little a find what works for you when it comes to newborns. I hope that helps a little.
