he didn't seem excited

I'm a ftm 18 weeks 5 days and my husband came with me to my prenatal check up for the first time. I usually go by myself cause he works it was all good until we got to the point where my doctor checks the heart beat. It was so strong and i couldn't stop smileing cause she had trouble finding it last time. So i look over to smile at my husband and he almost looked like he was gonna fall asleep. I was so hurt i brought him to share that momnent. I asked him about it and he just shrugged i was pissed now i'm haveing a bit of a cry he has been awsome with everything and we planned this baby why isn't he excited :(

Out baby isnt planned and it has taken my boyfriend a while to get excited. I had a fetal doppler at home and when I heard the beat the first time he was there and was no where near excited. He smirked and left the room. Sometimes it takes them a while to come around, he may be worried about things. I found out finnally my boyfriend wasnt excited because he was so worried about the new financial responsibility and having to make sure he could provide. It may be his own issues keeping him from being excited.

I agree...he may just have a hard time expressing his excitement.  Talk to him about it...let him know how you're feeling. Maybe he can explain to you how he's feeling as well.

No matter if planned or not like smhsince91 men don't have the same bond till after the baby is born not all men but most my bf didn't seem interested in the beginning his face didn't light up like mines wen we heard the heart beat but some men express their feelings different n they are not the ones actually going thru the pregnancy now my bf is showing a lil more interest now that's its getting closer to her being here but ik it won't hit him n he want b super excited till he is actually holding her don't stress ur self just keep enjoying the experience we as woman have that good advantage over men because we can experience a lil human growing inside of us n its something that men will never understand or experience:)

our baby was planned, my boyfriend was over the moon he comes to every appointment and films every minute. hes more wrapped then I am at times (im always freaking out thinking somethings wrong) so I dont know about the guy taking his time to get his head  around it, if your baby is planned he should already have his head wrapped around the idea. so I agree with mommylex!

I've learned that guys don't really understand pregnancy. Women form a bond before the baby is born. We feel it move and go to doctor appointments. Men dont usually bond until after the baby is born. Right now it probably doesn't feel real to him. Even though he heard the heartbeat.

Sometimes it takes awhile for it to hit them.. I know my sons father went with me to first appointment at 10 weeks and his face kinda lit up about the heart beat but when he saw the baby moving he got excited and took a video. But hes yet been to anothe one and im 22 weeks.. hhe'll come around whether its now or when the baby comes.. so just hang in there.
