morning day sickness

Hi, I'm new to morning sickness and I'm not liking it.  This is my 4th pregnancy, I have a 3.5 year old and a 9 month old. This one is loved but wasn't planned. I have never had any nausea, sickness, nothing. I think I'm somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks. I haven't had proper periods since my youngest, and I only had sex once this cycle.  I am blessed to have been very fertile with the help of my husband. I tested last Friday and was expecting my period on the Saturday. It was a sure fast positive and I was already feeling sick all day two days earlier. So now I'm on day 6 of dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity and overall awful.  What can I do to make it stop? I can't take care of my kids feeling like I'm going to black out all the time.

hehehe!!  my husband could never go thru what we are going thru!

hey, another thing...stay away from tomato sauce on your pasta first trimester!  i have been craving it like crazy, so much that i have decided to just suffer thru the pain...but it really does make the morning sickness sooooo much worse!  plus, it feels like you have acid down your esophagus!

Thank you for your help.  I just ate two bowls of pasta and the whole time felt great, it was like the dizziness and nausea left. But within 10 minutes it hit me again. This is not going to be pretty if I have to eat pasta and alfredo for my entire pregnancy. I will surpass my 40 to 60lbs per pregnancy at this rate.  I have the hubby bringing me gingerale tonight. I hope this is only for a few weeks.

Just think if men had to do this there would be no society... lol

girl, i feel your pain!  except this is my first baby so at least i don't have to worry about other responsibilities other than work!  i was sick all day pretty much every day from week 5-9, then during week 10-11 it slowed down to just morning sickness and only about 4 days a week.  now i am in my 13th week and only feel nausious occasionally, but the gagging/throwing up has stopped.

the only thing that helped me (didn't fix, just decreased or eased the pain) was:

1. preggie drops (you can get them at maternity or baby stores--and i only like the drops because the sour flavors were helpful-the preggie pops tasted weird and made me feel worse).

2.  eatting a small snack (like bread or yogurt) just before bed because part of the reason you may feel worse in the mornings is because your glucose level drops.

3.  keep bland snacks with you like bread, crackers (but crackers didn't work for me--the dryness made me gag), snack size apple sauce, etc.

4.  eat small meals throughout the day--the second you are hungry, eat immediately.

some people are disgusted by food all together and can't keep anything down.  i was just disgusted with super strong smelling or spicy foods.  bland foods and comfort foods did wonders for me.  mac and cheese was very good during these times.  and make sure you are drinking plenty of water!

good luck to you!

drink plenty of water!!! Ginger ale helps me and crackers it doesnt have to be saltenine crackers... I carry a bottle of ginger ale every where I go! I hope that you start to feel better. But if that doesnt help you should let your ob know so they can find out or just help you! GOOD LUCK!
