I googled it :/ i found out that yes its hereditary :( and mostly shows up when the child is a baby or around 2 :' the website says that it can also be a cultural thing and a lot of asian people have it which makes since my husband is half Japanese hopefully our baby doesn't have problems with it
Definetly be passed down!! Both my parents are and so am i! My bf was when he was little...so im hoping our son doesnt. Its not fun
I am the same as Rae...I can't drink milk but am Fine with cheese and yogurt and stuff. My husband is a milk fanatic and I have craved milk and dairy products my whole pregnancy...not good lol
Lactose intolerance is genetic. Most likely if 1 paretn has it then the child will slightly have it. There are many degrees of intolerance. I for 1 cannot drink milk at all but am fine with most other items, other people cannot consume any dairy. The easiest thing to do is not give the kid any dairy until 1 year and then closely monitor them as you start giving them dairy
I dont know if it can be passed down but my mom doesnt have it but my father does and so do my sister and i. Im 21.6wks and do not drink milk at all, nothing dairy!
I'm lactose intolerant...I can't eat any dairy products..its a big NO to me:( I'd like to drink more milk in this pregnancy but I couldn't I'd throw up or have acid reflux and its bad :(
I'm lactose intolerant. I can drink 1% and be okay. My daughter was allergic to cows milk based formula and had to be on special formula for six months. We used alimentum. After that we were able to put her on soy and she grew out if it. My uncle is allergic to strawberries, so is my daughter. And she's allergic to pineapples.
Yes lactose intolerance can be passed down but its one of those hit and miss things where you just never know. The baby could develope it at a later age or not at all. My father is lactose intolerant and so is my little sister and my husband. I never had a problem with lactose until I became pregnant the drs told me its most likely that the baby is lactose intolerant and that is why it bothers me now.
I've never heard of it being passed down, so I sure hope not. Hubby can clear a room if he has milk :/
I'm not sure if it can be passed down but my son was lactose intolerant for the first year of his life, the doc just kept telling me he had colic and was a sicky baby but when he started to have green water poo he said he was lactose intolerant, my son was on prescribed LMF (lactose free milk) in powder form, he had that till he was about 10 months then just gradually tried him on dairy products and now he has milk and diary (lactose) products all the time and he is 6, the only thing that sets him off is wagon wheels for some reason!?
I haven't heard of it being passed down my mother nor father doesn't have it (weird huh) idk how I ended up with it !! But my nephew did have it he out grew it though,I think our little ones will be fine hopefully it wont be passed to them !!
Can it be passed down? I'm mildly lactose intolerant my self and my mum was telling me how hard it was when I was an infant because I would almost instantly puke up My milk. I'm a little worried my daughter may have the same problem
I'm lactose intolerant 2% milk is what I drink but wic gave me 1% which is also fine I just watch my intake on milk and cheese because too much of either will make me sick !!
