Thanks Everyone, I was a half heavy smoker a packet every 5 days, but ive cut back to 2 a day i know its bad but its better. I just went to the chemist and got some kind of folic acid tablets they say 0.5 folic. Doctor wasnt much help, i live in a small town there kind of useless, no further testing no advice nothing just a piece of paper for an ultrasound. but i herd u need suplements at the stage i am now the first 3 months. maybe im just stressing soo so much! thanks guys!!
I would first call you OBGYN. They will probably have you come in for a blood test to confirm pregnancy. Usually they'll prescribe a prenatal vitamin that has the recommended folic acid content needed. (a lot of OTC vitamins have 800mg, and they recommend 1000mg.)
You want to make sure you aren't eating deli meat, raw meat, soft cheese, cut out most caffiene, and get plenty of water. Take only Tylenol for pains, and check with your doctor about other medications that you are taking.
I don't really think you need to worry about stretch marks just yet.
Good luck!
yeah life live normal just dont do to much heavy lifting no alcohol and no smoking i know its hard but its for the best

I commented on your other post - Congrats - I know this is a little hard for you right now... but lets try to be positive!
First of all, you just need to get a good over the counter prenatal that has atleast 1 mg of folic acid. One that does NOT contain fish oil becuase that will only add to any nausea. As for stretch marks you can try anything you want but it has more to do with genetics than anything else. But it doesn't hurt to keep your skin soft and supple. You can pretty much still eat normal just make sure it's healthy. Limit caffiene to under 200 mg per day. Obviously no drinking, smoking, drugs. It's best to avoid any type of fish with a high mercury content. Be sure to drink PLENTY of water. 60-80 oz a day I think is recommended. And probably the msot exciting would be to schedule your first OB appt. Your doc will give you a lot of information then. Oh and as for getting sick. If you get to a point where you need to take something, call you ob's office, even if you haven't had an appt yet, they can tell you what they recommend is safe or not.
BTW CONGRATS!!!
