nursery decoration & baby shower!

so when did everyone start decorating their nursery? im 23 weeks. i don't wanna jump ahead of things and do it too early, but it's also gonna take awhile because we don't have the money to buy everything all at once. so i was thinking about buying the bedding next week. and that way when i get the bedding i can choose a color to paint the room. and start with that. do you think it's too soon? or should i wait a little while? when did yall start on the nursery?
also as far as baby showers go i think mine will be on april 3rd. im not in charge of it but i wanna make sure everything gets done properly. so when should i send out invitations? and when should i start working on them? also do yall have any good ideas for invitations? i want them to be really cute & pretty, but i don't want my hostesses spending a lot of money. any suggestions are welcome! :)

I am 18 wweks and this was planned. We painted the room before I was pregnant becasue I could not help and be around paint being pregnant. Then when I found out I started collecting either or onsies and gowns. A few weeks ago we bought the furniture. I buy things every week I go to the store so it is not as hard financially and pressure wise. This is my 5th:) Once I found out what I was having I started buing the boy onsies and sleepers/one peice things. I have my list and am buying what I can from Wlamart then we will go to Babies R Us near 6-7 months for the rest. I am having my shower afterwards though casue I live so far away from my family that I want them all to be able to see him when he is born. So that makes us have to get the most before he is born.

Now for the invitations they get sent out a month before. I wuld go to Staples or a paper supply store and by two or three types of nice paper. You can cut them down too. Then you can put then in layers and punch two holes and tie ribbon or whatever to hold them together. You can have them typed up with whatever info you want and even clipart a picture or water mark on the back or sides. You can get fancy cutting sizzors to cut the smaller layer which would be the top also. My cousin did this for her wedding and used silver and blue with off white and used silk ribbon and she made over 800 for under $100. SO a shower would cost way less! I would go to Babies R Us and look through books to get ideas then go home and do waht you like best. THen you can get nice envelopes. Don't forget to have a person at the shower to write out everyones name and what they gave you while during the party so it is easier to send out the thankyou notes. You can get extra paper and smaller enveoples for that at the same time. Oh and a printing place copies or prints what you want real fast for littl cost. Beleive me it looks expensive but its not!

you could always make your shower theme "chocolate and strawberries" and have everything pink and brown....you would be surprised what decorations can be re-used and I got so many creative things!

i guess i just dont wanna jump ahead of myself..im afraid if i get it all done then i wont have anything to keep me busy the last couple months. but i do only have 3 so it probably is time. esp if she comes before my due date.
im not sure about the theme...all i know is i wanna get my bedding from babysrus. it will probably be some variation of pinks and browns. and i want her crib and changing table to be in espresso. and when i pick out the bedding im going to pull a color from it to paint the room. and if the colors are too dark ill just do it a few shades lighter. ill end up doing somewhat of a neutral brown probably. thats all i know so far! no real theme yet other than colors.

I started decorating the moment I got that BFP! It's never too early. Do it if you want to! There's no schedule with these kinds of things. What kind of theme are you thinking about doing?

It is up to the hostess to do your invites. You get to be pampered so let her handle all those details! You can make suggestions but let them do the hard work. A baby shower is about YOU so don't feel bad if they spend money and pamper you!

I decorated my nursery after my shower at 7months, because we used the nursery theme as the shower theme and I was able to use the decorations from the shower to put up on the walls and ceiling. My MIL was great about it and bought really nice decorations that were rather expensive, so when I used them on the nursery they looked fantastic. I've got a pic somewhere I should load of it...

but that's my biggest tip for the shower; make the theme the same as your nursery and plan on buying decorations that are nice enough to be used for the room...My baby's nursery was tropical/underwater and literally it looked like she was in a colorful little fish tank (with parrots...i love parrots, LOL) and it's the most cheerful little room ever!!! Also, luckily because we picked a theme that was "fun" and not "girly", we're just going to keep the same bed set and decorations when my son is born in july instead of having to redecorate, lol. they'll be sharing a room once he sleeps through the night, and it's nice to have such a neutral theme that both a boy and a girl can enjoy :D

i agree btw one month before the shower is perfect timing to send it out.and you can always buy two different stationary sets and choose which one you like as you get closer....use the second one for thank-you cards :).

I started decorating my nursery at about 22 weeks.  I just wanted to get things done when I was feeling up to it.  Plus, my husband works odd schedules so I wanted to make sure he would have plenty of time to help with moving things and putting them together.  It might be too early, but I do what's right for me and don't really pay attention to what others think : )

As for the nursery goes, start now...

For the baby shower, invitations should go out a month ahead-of-time. Start doing them when ever...For my 1st son we used his u/s pic and got stock cards that you could slip the pic in the front of it, and found a cute saying to go inside, printed it on ((i forget what its called)) the paper you can see thought it... and then used ribbon to tie it to the card...And because you could see thought the paper we used a stamp ( baby feet stamp) on the inside of card.

I haven't done a nursery yet, simply cause I don't have a room yet, waiting for my sister to move out in April so that only gives me less then a month to do one.. That *****. lol.. But you should just do lil things at a time and work your way up to it.  Don't do it all at once or you'll have nothing to do for the next 3 months lol.

And the baby shower.  Id wait like another couple weeks before starting them.  Mines March 14th and I haven't started them yet. haha.. I'm going to the beginning of the new week though.  And as for invitations, I'm not going to all out, I just bought some cute ones from the dollar store. Its only paper and they get thrown away anyway. Spend lots of money when the baby gets here.. lol  I got stuck with begging my sisters to do stuff for me, but I have to buy everything.  My family isn't very family orientated.  But you'll be 32 weeks on April 3rd and that's perfect, I'm also doing mine when I'm 32 weeks :) Wish you could be there :(
