Baby Dilemma

Naming a child shouldn't lead or end in a heated disagreement between the parents. Unfortunately my bundle of joy fathers wants to be a highly opinionated person. He wants our son to be a Jr. I believe every person deserves their own identity. Anyway I was willing to honor their family tradition of passing down the middle name. The baby automatically gets his last name. So 2 out of 3 names a given. I like the name Khyron Eugene Thomas..don't want to call another person by his name..Terrance Eugene Thomas Jr. Am I wrong for not wanting to name his first son after him?

wanting a say in your sons name is absolutely reasonable. hopefully you can talk things through.
personally i wanted my son to have his fathers name. he is jr the third. there is no confusion at home because we call him by his middle name and his grandfather by his middle name also. it works well for us.
best of luck finding the right name.

I want my son's name to be different & something you don't hear all the time, but my hubby wants to name him after his dad who passed when he was five. I understand why he wants to so that, and we have deicded on two names, but I still try to change his name, but it.never works. But, when we first found out it was a boy, he wanted Jr, and I said deffinently Not.

We had that issue with our first son.  So we gave him dads first name and papaws middle name and everyone was happy.

I think i compromised enough with the two names. This is just one of those moments where we agree to disagree

My husband and I made a compromise when I was pregnant with our son  that  if we had a boy he would pick out the first name and I the middle name. If we had a girl I could pick out first name and he the middle name. Now I'm pregnant with our little girl and we are still using the same rules.

Thanks for your opinions. Kind of wish it was a girl again so it wouldn't matter so much to him.

Our sons name is khyron too!!! :) but ne way I don't think u r wrong at all. You have the right to name your child and so he needs to compromise.. Ur already giving him his middle name and last name (just like out son!) So the least he can do is accept and understand that you should be able to choose the first name

I work with credit and fraud and the most common "errors" are with Jr/Sr or seconds etc...I agree with the identity thing, but also having a different name prevents potential credit issues in the future.

You the right to name your child whatever you want. I don't like naming children after their parents because like you said, each child deserves their own identity. (Really, who wants to be referred to as Jr. when they are like 30 years old lol).
