I was crazy in love with David Cassidy, too. It's funny - at the time, my mother said how odd that this generation of girls is infatuated with guys who look like girls. It's true, too. Donny Osmond, Shaun Cassidy, David Cassidy. I think it's because young girls just aren't ready for men. They're kind of ready for girly men. And the cycle continues - this generation of girls also likes very girlish young men. So.
Having said that, if you liked David Cassidy at all, don't google him right now. As they say, you can't "unsee" something. :( waaa.
It's fun to talk about the cute geeks at a party. LOL True. I guess you never get too old or experience for that, right?
In my late teens and early 20s, I loved the creative, artistic types, or (more accurately) guys who thought they were. Never found one who put me first, though -- himself came first and his art came second, in all cases. By the second or third attempted serious relationship with these self-absorbed overgrown teenagers, I called quits on artists. They were just in too intense of a relationship with themselves to care about their girlfriend's well-being.
Married a solid business guy. More conservative upbringing, does interesting work, very self-secure and emotionally available. The marrying kind for sure! We've been happy for a long time.
I've noticed (from the position of being married, which might change things) that guys I've met casually over the years that I've had a soft spot in my heart for are even further along that same trajectory. If I went from arty to businessey when I got serious enough to marry, the guys I like best now are downright geeky. I'm not in a position to put it to the test... possibly if I were to really date anyone like them, I'd find them too gauche for words. But it's fun to talk to cute geeks at a party. :)
I love a butterfly net wrapped as a lollipop! :>))
And oh yeah, David Cassidy was probably my type there for a while too. (probably some younger members don't even remember him!)
I had a thing for 'bad boys'. ha ha, so funny now to say that. If they had a problem, I usually found them interesting. I liked long (ish) hair -- that 80's glam look, OMG. Like Jon Bon Jovi? Remember him in the 80's? Loved it. Dated for many years a guy with hair like that who sang in a band. It was funny because I'm pretty much a straight laced gal in appearance and attitude. But I guess they appealed to my edgy side that I didn't bring forward very often.
Who did I marry? Clean cut, frat boy. Professional man who is conservative. Luckily, he has a secret edge like I do too though. :>)
^ cute story :) and fun idea for a topic!
When I was young I always thought that guys with shoulder length hair were the coolest! I had a huge crush on David Cassidy, and everyday I would watch The Partridge Family because I thought David C. was so dreamy! Pretty much I grew out of that phase once my older brother delivered the heartbreaking news that I had been watching reruns that were at least 7 years old :( so devastating...
Thankfully, I married the exact opposite!
I have a "type" I'm attracted to. Think of a youngish Robin Williams with a beard. That's the guy.
Back when I was 7 years old, my aunt had this boyfriend, Fritz, who was the most fabulous man ever. I LOVED him. He was the most fun. For Christmas, he gave me a butterfly net, wrapped as a lollipop. HOW FUN IS THAT?
Interesting, SpecialMom, that I married a guy who is an exact duplicate of Fritz. ;D
