Constant clearing of throat

I have to clear my throat every few minutes and this has been going on for at least a couple of years. I don't feel any drainage and I never hack up anything, but it feels like something sticky is closing my throat. My doctor said I had a sinus infection and 2 months and 3 rounds of antibiotics later, he says I need to see some kind of specialist. I take perscription meds, for 2 years now (interesting), for acid reflux, which I've had (undiagnosed) for over 20 years. I used to smoke, but quit over 2 years ago. No allergies that I know of, no bad breath, no white spots.........I am using an inhaler, perscribed same time as acid reflux med, for a respitory issue that I have had a little longer(3 years). I started having breathing issues right before I left Iraq.....don't remember needing to clear my throat so much though.

I do know that it is not fun not being able to breathe. I have had to admit myself to the ER twice, but they are no help. Do a breathing treatment and have a good day.

I am tired of clearing my throat ----- and so are the people around me.

hi there,

I am going through the same problem as you son did. I am on my fifth day of dairy and egg free diet. The mucus is still there no matter what I eat... at what day exactly he started to feel some improvement please? THANK YOU!!!

My son clears his throat constantly which is very annoying for those around him, we have been to allergists, ent specialist, doctors etc to no avail and also tried many products, medicines for a contstant post nasal trip. He complained of having something in his throat but never really clearing it. Anyway he decided last week to cut out all dairy products from his diet and only drink soy or rice milk products - the change has been dramatic and almost instant - he still clears his throat but about 80% less than he used to. Give it a try for a week or two you never know.
