Could I have really been given an STD ?

I messed up and I am currently living a nightmare right now. I went out for drinks last night with some friends and got wasted bad. As we are driving home , my friends spot this crackhead and they start talking to her. Mind you , I’m in the back seat. Next thing you know we give her money and since I’m in the backseat , she wants to give me oral sex first. So I pulled my pants down and she immediately starts giving me oral. My drunk *** just goes along with it for like 30 to 40 seconds (Maybe 1 minute but no more then that) cause it felt so good without the condom until I looked alive and put the condom on for the rest of the oral sex. Once I put the condom on , I felt turned off and disgusted knowing what just happened so I told her to stop moments later. I decided to walk home while my two friends finished their business with the crackhead. I got home showered , shampooed my penis area heavy and urinated aswell. Woke up and showered once more with the same routine. I’m 24 and the crackhead must have been in her 30s.

Can someone please throw me some positive comments on my situation. This has been my first time doing this and my last. I have a girlfriend and I’m freaking out knowing I can potentially give her something.

Someone please reply

So first, you don't know that she's a "crackhead", and even if she is an addict or a prostitute, that doesn't mean she is infected with anything. I know you are anxious, but catastrophizing this isn't going to help. (Shaming people won't either, since what you did isn't any better or worse than what she does.)

So facts. Receiving unprotected oral sex does put you at risk for a few things - gonorrhea, syphilis and hsv1. None of them are likely. You can also get NGU, which is an infection in the urethra, from normal mouth bacteria.

Gonorrhea is probably the most likely. It's more common than syphilis, and she doesn't have to have visible symptoms to transmit it.

Syphilis isn't all that common in developed countries, though it's definitely out there. If she didn't have visible sores on her mouth, I wouldn't worry too much about this.

Hsv1 can be transmitted from the mouth to the genitals, resulting in genital hsv1. If you have herpes type 1 already (think cold sores or fever blisters) then you have antibodies that protect you from getting this again in a different location.

Honestly, I wouldn't overly worry much about this. The exposure wasn't that long, the only common thing I mentioned is hsv1, and you may already have that. Your current girlfriend may already have it. (Up to 80% of the population has it - your chances go up the older you are).

Since drinking so much causes problems for you, maybe take a look at that, and take a look at your friends who clearly don't have your best interests in mind. STDs shouldn't be at the top of your list of concerns - the risk doesn't warrant it.

If you want to test for gonorrhea and NGU, you can after 3-5 days. Syphilis is 90 days, though most will test positive by 6 weeks, and herpes can take up to 4 months, though most will test positive by 6 weeks. You can ask your doctor for a type specific IgG blood test now to find out if you already have hsv1. If it's positive now, it's a pre-exisiting infection.

Again, though, I wouldn't overly worry.

I’m so sorry about the “crackhead” comment. I only assumed that since she was barely able to speak and was making weird noises but that was wrong on me saying that. Yes , I have been told multiple times about my “friends” being bad influences on me and honestly , i think I’m done with them.  Even though this is still my fault too. If you don’t mind , would you be able to give me an estimate percentage of the possibility that I got transmitted with anything ?

I barely go out , I recently graduated as an engineer with a great job and my girlfriend and I want to plan our first baby soon after 7 years together.
A nightmare I tell you , a nightmare.
Unfortunately, there aren't any percentages. I totally get that as an engineer you'd want them. I'm not an engineer, but knowing stats makes me feel better about things, too.

It's really pretty low, though. Here's a thread from one of our doctors (when we had them on our site) that may help. Dr. Handsfield is world known for his work in the field, and has done a lot of research, worked with the CDC, etc. You can trust him.

Follow the links he's given for even more info.

Long story short, he says it's low risk enough to not worry about it, and to not warrant his recommending testing after a single act of unprotected oral, even with someone high risk (whether or not she was a "crackhead", she is a sex worker if she took money for sex, making her high risk). He goes into a lot of detail why, if you need to know why.

Congrats on graduating! This is an exciting and stressful time for you. Everything is new and you have all these different responsibilities. I'm not at all surprised that you went out partying with your friends, such as they are. I know I was hard on you, and I'm sorry for that, but honestly, you're okay. You'll get through this and be fine. :)
Thank you for the reply , very helpful. Although it’s the 6th day and I see no symptoms, I am feeling a bit relieved but my screening still awaits for some piece of mind. Thank you so much and believe it or not , this reply made me feel way better and crack a smile on my face.

God Bless You , Take Care
