Gonococcal Arthritis

I am writing this with a lot of sadness and pain.

I am in my late 20s. And i got my first ever STD. Long story short a week ago I woke up with a fever and then the next day all of my joints were hurting. They hurt so bad, it was a pain I have never experienced before. I cried a lot.

I was admitted to ER for a week and recently got discharged. I was diagnosed with Gonococcal Arthritis. The pain is better  now but still there and hurts. I still cannot walk. I have to take IV antibiotics daily for a couple of weeks along with pain medication.

This experience has really shook me. Please tell me it gets better. I want to walk again and just be normal how I was.

Not only is it treatable but most people feel better within a couple of days of starting medication. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/gonococcal-arthritis  Take your antibiotics and expect to get back to normal in a matter of days. This is not a dramatic prognosis but rather a blip on the radar and highly treatable without complication.

Thanks for your comment but the problem is that it is not a matter of days as the internet states. I have been on antibiotics for 2 weeks already and I have two more weeks to go. But sometimes the progress can feel like forever.
Understood. But the point is that it IS curable. There is absolutely zero reason to think otherwise. It may be slow for you but none the less, it resolves for everyone. Make sure you are addressing your gut health while on long term antibiotics. After being on antibiotics myself for 6 weeks, I destroyed my gut flora and then had a whole new issue of what was like colitis. So, eat yogurt, take  a prebiotic and probiotic. But one thing that I have found for certain, time does pass and all of a sudden it will be two weeks later and you will be done. Then monitor to make sure nothing is somatic that you are feeling as anxiety can begin to make us think we 'feel' things when we don't anymore.

You can make it, but this  would take time to recover, still on medication? Take it. Your case curable
