Doctor says no retest needed

Hi everyone
So I had unprotected sex about a year ago and developed some major aches in my testicles not long after. The pain went down after a while but still pops up from time to time. It's not painful enough to be a significant problem for me but I definitely don't want to have an untreated STD. Thing is, I got a full STD panel recently and it was all negative. But I was taking amoxicillin at the time and I heard here that that could cause a false negative. I asked my doctor about it and he said it's unlikely there were any false negatives and that the pain might have nothing to do with an infection, and that an infection probably wouldn't last a full year anyways. Can anyone here confirm for me that this is good advice?? I've gotten the impression looking around online that you can't trust STD results if you're on antibiotics, and that STDs can easily last years or forever without treatment. I'd be happy to just forget about all this if there's no infection and the pain doesn't mean anything but I'm not sure if the doctor is right, so I could use a second opinion.

I think the only answer for you would to test again so you can move on with your life. Other wise you will still be uncertain with an underlying stress factor.
