Hand Only Herpes?

After one week of having a cluster of 5 painful bumps on the upper left portion of my left palm I went to the doctor.  I had thought it was spider bites and was floored when the doctor said it appeared "herpetic", put a long flat needle through it (popped the blisters) and prescribed a medication for herpes that I am to take 3 x's / day for 5 days.  I was so embarrassed that I did not ask questions... and now I don't know what to do - so I turned to the internet.  Here is my issue - I am a virgin... (not a joke) and I've only ever had one partner.  I have given him a "hand job" - but I've never had intercourse.  When I told him we went to a local clinic and he tested negative.  How is this possible?  1) Is it possible that the clinic is wrong on his test?  2) Is it possible that my doctor has mistaken this for something else?  3) Is it possible that I will be able to pass this (if it is Herpes) to others (without sexual contact?) I am worried about this because I now have open sores on my hand (covered by bandages) - but what if it drains / seeps?  Can I infect others?  Also, I do not have these blisters (or any rash, sores, etc) any where else on my body.

Thank you for your help.

Did he take a swab of the blisters? He can't make an id without a swab... Just looking at them isn't enough.  Get tested again.  If he did take a swab of the fluid and then called you to tell you what it is, that would be a very accurate result.  Herpes doesn't live outside the body for very long so it's unlikely that you just randomly picked it up.

It might be herpes if the guy she gave a handjob to had herpes, and she had a cut on her hand.

I'd doubt it though.  That usually happens on the fingers, and its RARE.

I'd guess staph.
