Yes the swab would go to a lab.
Maybe just experience...can't really say.
By taking antibiotics they may cure any infection so if you go someplace else then it is possible you will test negative no matter what.
Why not just ask the woman to be tested also. Just tell her you think it would be a good idea to make sure both of you don't have any STD's.
I know this from research, reading and asking questions.
1.) I don't have many symptoms-- sensitivity on the tip of the penis. Maybe a slight itch, but I just thought that it was after having unprotected vaginal sex. No burning while urinating or discharge.
So they have to send the swab to the lab? They took my blood, too.
I am also wondering how they immediately knew how it was not gonorrhea but are still waiting on chlamydia?
Also, I don't know if I can wait two weeks for this test to come back. Could I go elsewhere (even though I have already taken antibiotics or do I have to wait this out?) I just don't want to put someone through anxiety if it has no affect on them, but of course I would tell them if it was chlamydia.
PS- How do you know all of this?
1) Can't really say...what symptoms do you have?
2) Can be passed but no real effects on her
3) While possible higher chance to get it orally
4) Vaginaly not orally to a woman
5) Blood test? NGU is a urine test or swab same thing for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Blood tests are normally for syphilis, Hepres and HIV.
NGU is really just foreign bacteria that is usually found in the mouth that during oral sex makes it's way into the uretha and sometimes causes an infection.
Vance, thanks for the quick follow-up. Some more follow-up questions based on your answers:
1.) What do you think the chances are that it is chlamydia (I am male)?
2.) Again, if not chlamydia, does NGU have any negative effects on women and can it be passed?
3.) Could I have gotten this both orally or vaginally?
4.) Can I pass it orally or vaginally?
5.) Why do they need to do a blood test in the first place?
The reason for questions 2, 3, and 4 is because I have read that women barely have NGUs.
1) Each place is different, some have easy access to labs other have to do batch testing.
2) From days to maybe 18 months
3) That is up to you
4) NGU as you have been diagnoesd with UTI or other bacteria
5) No the swab is fine
6) Probably not
