Concern about Crabs/Pubic Lice

Hi there,

I am quite concerned about a recent sexual encounter and contracting pubic lice. I slept with someone I know two 9 days ago. Yesterday the person contacted me to say they have developed pubic lice and has received treatment. He told me that he must have contracted it from another person whom he slept with 4/5 weeks ago. I have never had pubic lice i.e. no visible eggs/insects, no itching or redness. I also understand the condition can be asymptomatic.

Does an exposure to pubic nits/lice always mean transmission? Should I use the appropriate treatment as a preventative? I am unsure since the person involved did not have symptoms at the time we slept together.

Also, I have been intimate with another person a week after this encounter. Is there any possibility that I could have transmitted it to them? Do I need to inform them that there is a risk of developing although I don't currently have them?

Best Wishes,
Anon
