Oral sex exposure-worried

About 9 months ago I received unprotected oral sex from a random encounter which occurred outside a casino around a dark corner. I met the woman at a blackjack table in the wee hours of the morning and one thing led to another.  The encounter lasted maybe 5 minutes.   I have been consumed with guilt ever since.  I told my wife about the drunken bachelor party screwup right after it happened and we have worked through it.   I got a full STD workup at 5 weeks post exposure in which everything came back negative. Of course, I am still worried that the exposure has rendered me sick with something.  Is the 5 week test confirmatory for HIV?  I've had a sinus infection the past 3 weeks and I can't seem to get well.  I am notorious for worrying about things and my mind can go wild on me.  Are my worries unwarranted?  I've also paid close attention to my genitals every day for the past 9 months.  of course I'm noticing red areas which I don't think were there prior to exposure.  Or maybe I just never paid that close attention to my genitals.  Please help me!!!! I need peace of mind and medical certainty I am ok.  Do I need to getr re-tested for HIV?????  Thanks so much!!!!!!

Thank you for all the good information.  I need to accept the fact I am fine and move on with my life.  No new test needed.

Yes, that's one of the standard antibody tests.

ok, thank you.  It was an EIA with reflex test?  The result was "non-reactive"  Is that the same thing as an antibody test?

I forgot the context. If you had an antibody-only test at 5 weeks, it was about 98% conclusive.

I stress you are no risk of HIV. But if you insist on testing, a DUO test (for both HIV antibody and antigen) is conclusive any time 4 weeks or more after the last possible exposure. Three months is old news and applies only to older tests no longer in frequent use.

Thank you for the re-assurance.  Can't thank you enough.

One more question just for my knowledge.....do you happen to know the statistics for the accuracy of an HIV test at 5 weeks?  Everything I've read online suggests a 3 month post encounter test to be the most conclusive.  I would think this day and age that a 5 week test to be certain?  Is this not the case???
Thanks,

You clearly understand this is dominantly an issue of guilt and shame over a regretted sexual decision. You really can concentrate on those aspects and stop worrying about STDs. Oral sex is safe sex, with little risk for any STD and zero risk for some (including HIV). Combining the inherently low risk with your lack of symptoms plus negative tests, you can be confident you have no infection from that event. I agree the "red areas" probably aren't abnormal -- and no STD would cause such a symptom anyway.  And STDs (including HIV) don't cause sinus symptoms.

You don't need any more testing.  All is well.
