Tested Positive Gonorrhea

Hi,

I was tested positive gonorrhea on Jan 20 and received a shot of Ceftriaxone 250mg on the same day.  However my ex boyfriend and current boyfriend were tested negative. For your information, I have never had sex with anyone else except these guys. My ex always wear condom during intercourse but with my current boyfriend, we had a lot of unprotected sex. My relationship with my ex was ended one and half years ago and i just started my relationship with my current boyfriend six month ago.

On Feb 17, I went for my second PCR test to make sure I clean from Gonorrhea, but the result still shows positive Gonorrhea.

So my questions are, how can it be? Why after shot still tested positive? How come both of them tested negative? If I am infected, at least one of them must be tested positive? Or is it possible my result was false positive? My ex and current boyfriend also did PCR test which my Gynae claims the result is 99% accurate. I am so stressful and confused right now.

Thank you for your reply. FYI, after the injection untill my second PCR test day, I have abstained myself from sex, therefore, to me reinfected is impossible.

Current partner should be retested and treated.
Not sure why you still showed positive again, medication should have taken care of it unless you were reinfected.
