Transmission of Lymphogranuloma Venereum

Hi,

My lymph near my genitals is swollen and hurts. Also the skin around my mouth is red, dry and stiff. There's no ulcer or whatever different on my penis.

I just got back from the doctor and he told me this could be herpes, but I find the symptoms on my lips do noit match those of herpes... So I asked my doctor about Lymphogranuloma Venereum ... He told me this could only ba caught in Tropical region (I'm in Canada)... or

So, my question is about an encounter I had with another man. I wonder if the following could have put at risk of catching either herpes or Lymphogranuloma Venereum :

• Mutual mastrubation
• Me licking a sex toy that has touched the other man's penis before
• Mutual massage
• Him licking my hand

There was no penetration (anal or oral) whatsoever. No cum neither.

Thank you for answering this !

The doctor insisted I didn't need to be tested for anything.

He said since I didn't have unprotected sex (the activities I've described don't count as risky behavior according to him) I am not at risk of being exposed to any std.

But I still have doubts about his herpes hypothesis. The symptoms on my lips don't match what I've heard and read about herpes. No ulcer, no crust, no liquid coming out. Just a rash, stifness, dryness, numbness and redness.

Also :

First, symptoms have been there for 3 weeks, which is too long fot a herpes breakout.

Second, it seems to me like if oral herpes was a problem, the lymph nodes near my throat would have been inflated, not near my genitals.

Third, when lymph nodes become inflated because of herpes, both sides usually are. I've only got pain on the left side.

Fourth, I've also read that people complaining about inflated lymph nodes are in a vast majority not concerned by herpes.

My only worry remains lymphogranuloma. Maybe because the symptoms kinda sound a bit more like what I have...

What's your opinion ? Why do you say «Not likely to be lymphogranuloma.» ?

The doctor has seen me for only 3 minutes, so that also makes me wonder...

Not likely to be lymphogranuloma.

why doubt what your provider who has actually seen you and examined you has said at this point?

Just swollen genitals can be many things. continue to follow up as needed.

did they do any testing on you or just visual exam so far?
