clear bumps(blisters) and itching

About 5-6 days ago I noticed during sex that my left side of shaft felt irritated.  Afterwards the next day I noticed partial scab forming that i dismissed as just irritation.  Figuring once the scab came off it would be fine.  It has been itching a lot.  No pain.  There are also 2 other clear blisters that look like when you get a burn.  Lately i have been going on long runs and walks.  Yesterday while walking fast I really noticed that my shorts rub that area.  Been married for 7 years.  The scab seems to get irritated or it might even get knocked off prematurely from the walking/ running.  The 2 clear blisters have not popped yet.  It is slightly swollen in just that area as well.  If it did not itch I probably would not know it was there.

Any ideas??

As a 44 year old man married and together with a women for 7 years and one relationship for 6 before this has really caught me off guard.  Mentally now what we were obviously not virgins before we met each other, and I have taken the stance since the out break was on me that I have and could have given it to her.  No one knows for sure, but now what?  No more sex, no more unprotected sex, very, very , very down.  From what I have read spontaniety is a thing of the past.
My symptoms seemed worse yesterday because i was on my feet all day moving around alot, but it seems this AM it seems to be improving.  Maybe after the symptoms fo away my spirits will be better, it has been a week.  I am just bummed that this had to pop up now.  Things have been shakey with us and this certainly does not improve matters.  Thanks again for your insightful comments,

The itching usually is caused by sweat. Since you are running a lot it can can itch and it gets infected the same area. I advice you to make sure apply VASELINE on the affected area. First wash your hands then apply the affected area then put on something light. I mean not jeans or something that catches heat. Make sure sleep with underwear on your back. The itching and irritation wll go away...

You need to see someone who is more up to date on herpes testing.  I suggest that you and your wife both get type specific herpes igg blood tests this week if possible to see who has what ( the provider you saw evidently was stillthinking of the older tests that aren't helpful - the type specific ones are ).  This could be hsv1 or hsv2. Either one of you could've come into the relationship with it.  The sooner you get the tests the sooner you'll be able to figure out who had what first.

What pills did he give you - how much and for how long?

I also encourage you to go to www.westoverheights.com and print out the herpes handbook for both you and your wife to read. Also the patient counseling video on the same site is excellent and I believe it includes a section talking about just because herpes is showing up in a relationship now doesn't mean it wasn't already there and just no one knew it which should be helpful too.

I asked him the same thing, he said (an older polished doc) any testing was pretty much useless do to the fact that in todays society almost everyone would have the titer for Herpes.  He said either it will go away with the help of the pills or whatever it is it will go away.  But he was pretty sure it was herpes, I grilled him for an half hour.  Furthermore when I got home I googled pics of genital Herpes and it was exactly the same.  Not sure how this is going to affect my marriage, it was a little tricky before this cetainly is not going to help.

Did you only have a visual diagnosis or did you have actual testing done?  A visual diagnosis alone isn't enough.

well I went to an uroligist and to my surprise he told me I have Herpes.  I could not believe it.  He went on to say it could have been from 20 years ago.  Wow what a shocker.  He gave me some pills and said the symptoms should retreat soon.

The best thing to do is to see your provider about this.  It could be many things even plain ole chaffing or jock itch but blisters are not normal and need evaluation.
