syphilis treatment

Male who had a risky encounter with a strange male in March.  Exchanged unprotected oral, he rimmed me (unprotected).

I developed a rash and a couple of other symptoms (sore joints, low-grade fever).  Never noticed a chancre.

At exactly 12 weeks, I lab tested for chl and gon (urine - aptima combo 2), HSV1/2 (IGG type specific), HIV1/2 (EIA AB), Hep ABC, and syphilis.  All negative except for syphilis (1:32 + FTA-ABS).

Treated with 2.4M penicillin three times.  Rash and other symptoms seemed to go away.

Now, less than a week after the last treatment, I have a sore near my anus.  Is there any way that could be an indication that the treatment failed?  Could the primary chancre (again, I never noticed one in the first place) re-appear?

Or could this be something else?  How accurate is HSV blood test at 12 weeks?  What about HPV?  Is rimming risky for HPV?  Could these show up 3-4 months post exposure?

Thanks.

Hi, you need to follow up with your doctor about this. The risk for contracting herpes or hpv from a tongue licking the anus area would be close to zero. If the lips made contact, and there were not lip sores at the time, the risk would be quite low as well as shedding for oral hsv does not occur that often.
