Herpes sore to scab within a day?

I had a small red bump on the middle part of my shaft about six months ago that never blistered or hurt and came back with a negative HSV culture. All good from the doc.

Fast forward six months with zero problems and no worries. I woke up this morning and in the shower could feel a bump on my shaft near the base of my penis that was tender to the touch. I couldn't really see anything in the shower, but when I dried off and looked at it, the bump had kind of popped or something b/c it didn't feel as big and there was a tiny bit of oozing/wetness where I'd felt it. I've been checking it throughout the day, and it's pretty tender to the touch and now has a bit of a scab on it.

I'm freaking out b/c I've never had this type of bump before that's been tender or caused a scab. It's near the base of my penis where hairs grow and I shave, so I've gotten razor bumps before; but this is out of the ordinary. I thought it could be an ingrown hair, but I can't see a hair. The whole thing is small (<5mm).

Anyone have any insight into if it sounds typical for herpes or not? No other sores, and this one seemed to pop up and is (hopefully) clearing all within a day or so. I am dating a new girl and we've had unprotected sex, but it's been a couple months since we started and I have no other symptoms.

Please share your thoughts! Thank you.

If your sexually active you might want to have a herpes test for the protection of others. Even having oral herpes from child hood could be  passed to someones genital area from oral sex.

Thank you for the quick response over the holiday weekend! Thought I'd post an update.

Noticed the popped(?) bump on Thursday morning that was pretty tender, it began to scab that same afternoon. On Friday morning, I had a little scab and no pain. On Saturday morning, I woke up and the little scab fell off. When the scab came off, I noticed a hair sticking out that I immediately plucked, and it was about a centimeter long with goop on it. This made me feel a ton better and hopefully was the cause of the irritation.

Since I plucked that hair on Saturday, I've had no more issues. The area is a little pink, but fully healed and no sign of any more blistering or pain.

Hi, if its clearing up within a day it doesnot fit the typical herpes outbreaks. If  youve been sexually active you might want to have a herpes blood test. From what your describing it may be a herpes outbreak but if you shave the area it may also be an inflamed hair folical. Really no way to confirm what this is. Usual herpes sore appear in the same spot, open, scab over and heal in about 2 weeks and there are muliple sores after openng. Only testing would shed light on to what this is.
