How will mono affect me?

I have mononucleosis now and I'm only 19. I've never been in a serious relationship and look forward to one in the future. However, after having mono, will I be able to kiss freely and engage in sex like others do, or will I be contagious all my life? I am afraid of being able to have a regular relationship from fear of giving this virus to the boy I end up with...
I know it recurs now and then, but what are the chances of someone catching it if we do something like kiss on a regular basis?

If you did the monospot test and your confirmed then you can lead a normal life style and most never come down with the symptoms more than once as the body builds up antibodies. You will still be able to pass this on to someone else but since many people have also been exposed and also have antibodies it should not be an issue.

I'm not sure if it was the mono spot test...the doctor took a blood test and a swab of my tonsil and called me back the next day saying I had mono, if that helps any.

Hi and welcome. Did you have the monospot test done to confirm you had the antibodies created from this virus?
