scroll down two postings to midbe mole........ I have put a pic up there. it is one of a melanoma on my back, which may give you some idea. MIne was not itchy, not scabbing nor bleeding and as flat as a tack!!!! In fact, its called a hutchinsons melanoma freckle - not even a mole!!! but highly aggressive. There are so many different types of skin cancer. Some are harmless eg basal cell carcinomas - they dont spread beyond the local area. then the squamous cell carcinomas - very agressive as are melanomas but also not a mole (mine was a innocent looking pink lump on my hand). For this reason, any lump, bump or lesion on the skin that changes, remains for a while and cannot be explained, should be checked. Although, like me, you wouldnt have been able to see yours either! I have no idea how long mine was there, didnt even know it was. Went to specialist as I was found to have a squamous cell carcinoma on my hand. Both were cut out about 10 days or so ago and am commencing more treatment next tuesday. I cant really say to you that if it has only been there a few months then all likely fine. The carcinoma on my hand had only been there 2 to 3 months, my back who knows????? It had already spread but not,we hope to lymph nodes themselves - wont know that till tuesday.I was told though taht a few months was quite unlucky to have spread. So if yours has only come up in a month, is very likely will be simply removed (if needs to be) and there will be no further treatment but regular checks. I am australian and also very fair with blue eyes - not a great combination. I am 51 and never had a skin check in my life, didnt think I needed to as had no moles anywhere!!!! I was so naive! and yet my friend who also went was covered in moles and got the alll clear!
What your mole is doing though does sound a little worrying so you are right to get it checked. My friend took the pic of the one on my back that I posted, is it possible to try and get a pic up????
No mine does not look anything like that. I have no way of taking a picture because it is on the back of my head. It is scabbed over right now. I have an appointment next week to have it looked at and am hoping it is not cancer of any type, especailly melanoma.
will keep my fingers crossed
