Anti-depressant without insomnia

Are there any anti-depressants that do not cause insomnia?

Mirtazapine (Remeron) is NOT highly sedating to every patient.  That is a misconception.

Most of the antidepressants claim to exhibit some relief from anxiety/insomnia/provide a calming effect, which also is a misconception. Their aim is to pick you "up."

If you want help for insomnia medicinally, ask your physician to write a prescription for a hypnotic drug, avoid caffeine, and practice good sleep hygiene.

Hi Rusky,

I can tell you from personal experience that the anti-depressant  Remeron (mirtazapine) is highly sedating.
On the other hand, many people taking Remeron experience weight gain - I know I did.

Cheers,
