Heart zap / shock at the moment between awake & asleep

Dr. Rajput  - Came across this thread. Not sure if it's still active. I have been experiencing similar shocks and jolts at the moment of dozing off to sleep. Generating from my heart or in the neighborhood anyway. Been a year or so and certainly not every evening. Healthy 48 year old male. Avid cyclist. Non-smoker. I do imbibe with some frequency. I've tried eliminating all the above one at a time to no avail. some of these zaps are strong enough that I literally leap off the sheets. Stressful I assure you. I am prone to the random panic attack. Work is a stressor for certain. Seems odd as I'm completely relaxed in my comfy bed, favorite sheets and then BAM right at that moment between awake and asleep.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Possibly hyperarousal, which typically results from excessive unrelenting stress and anxiety experienced over a sustained time period.  But check with your doc to either treat or eliminate the possiblility of an underlying medical condition.
